I would say don't wear it to a parent-teacher conference, but otherwise go for it. Parents pay your salary... Some- me included, would take that as a bit, over the top. Just do to its size and polish.

I would consider a SO Heritage Chrono, especially the 44.

Personally I feel that everyone is entitled to pamper himself, ladies included, with his hard earned money. Ultimately, priority should be given to please himself before everyone else. We seem to be too caught up with what my neighbors or others think syndrome at the expense of our joy or "arrived" satisfaction. Life is too short to be worrying over things one can't control. As long as we are consciencious and contribute to the best we can to our community, we should not worry about what others think. I learn that we can never please everyone no matter how hard we try. I can understand where JacksonStone is coming from, and I agree especially if it is a big ticket item like a sports car or chauffer driven Bentley. Unless the intention of getting the SA is to flash to people around you, which I strongly doubt in this case, I think it is perfectly ok. No one has to know how much you paid for it, just tell them it's a gift or better still, a replica. Haha! My 2 cents worth.

Remember fellas, while we may wonder how a teacher at a public school teaching our kids affords a Breitling (on our tax dollars) WE are the 0.001% of the consuming public. The rest don't know or give a sh$t what is on our wrist.

Seems to me this has become the classic "think it to death" thread.

You want it, buy the effing watch and do not concern yourself where you wear it - no one is paying attention!!!!

I reckon that's pretty accurate.

Who's overthinking? He wanted our opinions, and we're offering them. If there was only one reasonable answer, he wouldn't have needed to ask in the first place.

Or he would just have asked me, I would have told him to proceed with the purchase. :poke:

JS, every conceivable opinion has been expressed at least twice.

Bottom line for me, it is just silly when we forget that "we" are a tiny group and no one gives a shit what is on our wrist except the distinct minority that comprises guys like us.

I haven't forgotten. My take is not based on an erroneous assumption that everybody thinks like we do. It's based on the fact that the SA is huge and flashy, and it might (although not necessarily will) catch the attention of some non-WISs, who might, in turn, have an opinion about the watch. If thinking that might be a possibility makes me silly, then so be it. I'll just follow the dominant advice in this thread and not give a shit what anybody else thinks about me.

Dude, I wasn't even referring to you and didn't go back and read the whole thing. There sheer number of posts was blowing my mind on such a seemingly simple deal. That's all.

I believe JPFFCA received enough opinions to work with. There will be diff in opinions and sometimes misunderstanding in any posting. Ultimately I know everyone means well while trying to help. It will be a dark day for all in this community if any feelings are hurt through the process. I like the professionalism and enthusiasm of everyone here. I m so glad to have found this forum and hope to be able to contribute too. Cheers!

It's all good guys...thanks for all opinions as I would not have asked if I did not want to hear. It's interesting...when she first told me her thoughts I was like "What the hell are you talking about, it's just a watch?!" But after I had a chance to think about it more, I couldn't shake her comments from my mind--thus I reached out to this board. In my profession I've had to give up various things that others don't worry about and be conscientious of certain aspects of my life. Reading other people's feedback on the SA I know that it will be noticed (simply for it's sheer size), and it is very possible that it will draw comments/questions too. Does that bother me?...not really. Should it be reason for concern?...not sure. For what it's worth I have all intentions of buying it and worrying about the rest later. Happy Holidays...

I just love when people feel the need to express their opinions over and over and over again and attempt to dominate threads.

To the OP, buy the watch you like and don't give a f*uck what any of us or any one else thinks.

I can't believe it! 3 pages :-) :-)
JPFFCA, excellent post mate.
It only proves one thing - it hit our sensitive spots :-)
Ultimately, anybody asks me why I buy all these expensive watches?
- because I like them
and
- because I can.
