On another forum, I read that Breitling has announced a warranty of 5 years on their in-house movements. There was no link or mention of a source and I haven't been able to find anything online. Clearly The Breitling Source is more reliable that any other forum [gratuitous sucking-up mode off] so I ask here: Has anyone seen information about this? It's great news if true, particularly if they extend it retroactively to B01s bought last Saturday.

Oops, I thought it was new news so I only looked back through several days of posts here. Didn't see it in a Google search but maybe I "breitling warranty" is too general a search key. Anyway, thanks Roff.

Are there any details publicly available?

It was announced at Basel so until that actually filters down to the new warranty booklets for the in house movements it's guesswork. I would assume that it's the same warranty, just for longer.

I imagine that you are correct about the warranty being fundamentally the same but for longer. I'm wondering more about implementation. I bought a B01 on Saturday March 24. Obviously, the warranty book indicates a warranty of two years. It would, in my opinion, be reasonable for Breitling to extend the warranty of such customers (or even for everyone who has purchased an in-house movement since 2009) but then no one at Breitling asked me.

I've emailed my AD to ask about it. I'll report back if I learn anything.

Please do. I missed the earlier announcement. It's academic in my case, since I don't own an in-house Breitling, but I couldn't tell from the other thread whether the newer warranty period is retroactive. Bankslyon said the warranty covers, "all Breitling inhouse movements including 01," and not just "new" in-house movements. But that doesn't really tell us whether the new warranty period applies only to newly purchased in-house movements (including 01), or whether it applies to all previously purchased in-house watches, as well, meaning someone who bought, say, a B01 in 2009 with a 2-year warranty now automatically has an additional three years worth of warranty coverage.

My lovely :lovesloves: contact at Breitling Distributor and Service Centre in Taiwan was aware of it when I brought it up a couple of weeks ago and she mentioned that it is applicable to all 01 movemets purchased from Jan 1 2012 hence she assured me that my TOC bought on Jan 24th is covered for 5 years irrespective of what it says in the warranty book.
Sadly only 2 years on my Navi 01 which was sold in July 2011.
She did have some re-assurence words though - "Don't worry, it's a Breitling, you will not need it"

Lets see if you get the same response from your AD CH-dmath.

Exactly my reaction :D but I did not want to push that issue with her :lovesloves: if you know what I mean

Thanks, Wessa. I rather figured it wouldn't apply to earlier 01 purchases, since some are already out of warranty and might have been subject to owner-financed repairs already. But it kind of blows for anyone who has purchased an 01 calibre prior to January, especially if the watch ends up requiring repair between the second and fifth years of ownership.

Yes, I bought my Navi Super Constellation on the last day of 2011 after two agonizing hours trying to decide between it and the Navi 01. Imagine how cheezed off I would be today if I bought the 01 only to find out that I missed out on the warranty extension by one day!
This way no hard feelings, have a lovely Connie as well as more recently the bargain Navi 01 LE.
Neither qualifies for the 5 year warranty but I'm damned pleased with both :-)

I just heard back from my AD here in Switzerland. They are aware of the new 5 year warranty but Breitling has not yet informed them of how it will be applied. I guess we'll have to wait until word filters down to the trenches. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed that what wessa was told applies to all markets.

Confirmation of the warranty directly from Breitling but still no word on whether it is in effect retroactively.

I agree (as in the note above the image in my post :) ). I posted it because it's the first mention I'm aware of to come directly from Breitling. But the hunt for a definitive answer continues.
