Just a quick question guys. What is the purpose of the UTC function on the emergency? I.e. The smaller clock on the bracelet.

It's just to be able to see the time in a different timezone. In that way you can check both the time on your own base and the local time where you are...

UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time and is accepted (as far as I know) as Greenwich Mean Time GMT.

The UTC feature on a UTC module or on the watch itself is used, mainly by pilots, as literally a universal time so that no matter what time zone you're in everone knows what's being discussed is in UTC/GMT.

The military have a similar thing using "ZULU" - everything (time wise) relates to that time.

Waiting for the pilots to come back now and tell me I'm wrong! :D

Is the UTC still available? I don't see it in the new Chronolog, only the digital Copilot.

The digi Co-Pilot replaced the UTC model a couple of years back, so no, the UTC is no longer available. The Co-Pilot kind of limits you to being able to only put it on digi Professional models now. It looks a bit rubbish on analogue models IMHO.

Thanks for the input guys. Always liked the emergency, at least now i know what that second clock is all about!:) Makes alot of sence when i think about it!

I'm not a pilot (yet, maybe someday) so the UTC as a function for it's designated purpose is unrealized. But, I do keep it set to a different time zone as with my business I need to know the eastern time zone and I am on mountain. Helps with business, but more than anything, it's asthetically pleasing to me. The B1 and E that I own both have their UTC counterparts. Seems like overkill to some people, but I have it on there because I can. Kinda like having the basic model of a car, or the fully loaded model.

Spot on, personally I do not refer to UTC on my airwolf very often unless out of the country. cheers

All flight plans worldwide must be filed using UTC, thereby avoiding any confusion between time zones. Zulu and UTC are the same. UTC time is generally written in abreviated form as 10:31Z (or whatever tiem it is). Pilots typically refer to the time as either 10:31Z or 10:31 Zulu. Seldom will you hear the abbreviation UTC spoken.

I use it for work mainly as I travel a lot and it's cool to just check before calling home!!!!

BUT

Mainly I just like what it looks like.
