The over/under on thread deletion is 5 minutes. I'll take the under.

Same here, which I guess makes my request for a link rather pointless.

Wow what a horrible experience! Just call Fear when you're ready.

What forum is he a mod? Oppressive_moderation_zone?? If so, your thread would be deleted in 30 seconds and you will be banned like your a criminal.

Or is it watchucrap? That's another horrible forum!

It's best for Admin that we don't say, as I learned a year ago when I posted very bluntly about a "certain" site. I was politely asked to delte the thread, not like what happens on some other sites.

It may seem incredible but from time to time Admin gets nasty letters from lawyers. Frigging lawyers!

I can see your point KMG. I'm hesitant to name and shame because the AD is very well know in my home town. I was initially referred to the shop by several guys in my office who had very positive experiences . It seems the shop just did not put its best foot toward that day. I've made my purchase already via a recommendation from this community. The watch should arrive tomorrow. To be honest I'm so excited about the watch I'm not interested in spilled milk. I'll most likely get in touch with the manager to discuss.

That reminds me of when I was a member on a different forum (not watch related). One particular eBay vendor was well-known to the community for misrepresenting the condition of the goods he sold, and forum members never held back from posting about the guy, to the point where it had become a running joke. Eventually, that vendor hired a lawyer to send the forum's owner a cease-and-desist letter. The vast majority of discussion about the vendor was true: he really posted some misleading listings, which I unfortunately knew from firsthand experience. Although the owner probably could have won had he decided to make it a fight, he had no interest in going there. As such, he deleted all threads related to the vendor, made it a rule we weren't allowed to post about him publicly, and even made a couple sacrificial bans of some longstanding members, just to appease him. I thought the whole thing was a crock, but then I wasn't the one facing the threat of legal action. Sometimes just the scent of a possible lawsuit is enough to make people head for the hills.

It is always an issue especially on a forum like Breitlingsource that is not a money making proposition. I know for a fact it has happened during my time here. Makes me appreciate the openness of the forum even more.

IF it is the large nationwide chain AD I'm thinking it is, I don't think they give a damn. Too big to fail, but it would be kinda fun if they did! :)

Sharkie, the large nationwide Breitling AD chain you are referring to does not carry Breitling in their Tampa stores. The one being referred to as the overly pretentious douche bag AD is only local to Tampa. :D

Okay Chris, well that's your decision but I still think that getting in touch with the manager is a good move - also let him/her know that as a result of your poor experience in their store, you took your business elsewhere. Their loss.

Oh, great to read that you are awaiting the arrival of your new watch - what is it and WE WANT PICS :D :D :D :D :D .

As far as the Tampa ADs are concerned I would like to add that I have visted each store once & was treated very well at both locations. I was very impressed with both as the representatives that helped me let me lead the discussion, remained very engaged, took out every single watch I was interested in looking at, and entertained me for 45min - an hour. I will add at the "not so praised" mall location I was helped by the senior buyer, as he was the closest to the Breitling case, not a salesman. Both of these visits shocked me as I thought I would have been an after thought, because I'm 21 & still a student. :lingsrock:

Wow that sucks. Sorry to say it but yes, your AD sucks. And this should probably find it's way to a Corp. manager for Breitling for a 'review' of that dealer. Or at least back to that dealer for a review of that employee.

Well there's two parties here. I suspect the dealer just wasn't taking you seriously. He'd at least have expected you to know the current offerings from Breitling before you visited the shop and had model names to inquire about.

For example I didn't even plan my last trip to a dealer, if was an off the cuff thing and I knew the models I was interested in. I had questions and concerns which could all be answered. I left knowing exactly which model would be perfect for me (and my wife - very important!). It was an independent dealer and yes I probably knew more about their watches than them.

I'm in the market for my first "ling" Several members of the community have been a huge help already. Though I'd fire off a quick update/rant. I decided to give a local AD that I had not visited a try today. The experience was an absolute disaster! I'm struggling with the pros and cons of brick and mortar operations vs the convenience and price benefit of online operations. I think this was the last nail in the coffin my local options.

I booked an appointment with a representative at the store who came very highly recommend. When I arrived with my wife in tow, anxious to show her what I was looking and and to look try some pieces on to get her opinion I found that the rep "was not in". The person who let us in the store was busy with another client but we were welcome to look at the watches locked in the case.

After half an hour standing around bored with my wife the rep finally had some time for me. I explained I was looking for a mechanical non chrono dive style watch. The rep told me I was most likely wasting my time as the company was moving away from that "type of thing". I didn't even get to try a single watch on before I was dragged over to the Tag case. I explained I already owned a
Tag, this resulted in a trip to the Omega case and a whirlwind tour of quartz Divers watches.

After a few moments of awkward silence I was told to look online at a variety of companies and c
ome back when the rep had more time to help me "figure out" what I wanted.

Sigh.

That is as bad as the salesperson at an AD in Boston telling me I knew more about Breitlings than she did. I turned and walked out.
