Link's not working for me, but assume that this is the Mikrogirder. Amazing concept, but they announced the Mikrogirder 2000 in January with "1/2000th of a second accuracy" and now they announce the Mikrogirder 10000 with "5/10000th of a second accuracy" - that's a little cheesy for me - it's the same freaking thing!

I'm guessing that because they haven't announced a power reserve it's low, the Mikrotimer last year has a chronograph power reserve (separate to the main movement) of 2 1/2 minutes.

I find it strange that Tag continues to flex its watchmaking muscles, but none of these innovations really make it into their mainstream pieces. I don't know a lot about Tag, but I don't think they have a single in-house movement in mass production, do they?

Depends on whether you consider the Calibre 1887 in-house or not. TAG does.

Of course the 1887 is in house - just not Tag's house. One of the finest Seiko movements available :!:

In the strictest terms, it's not a true in-house, because TAG didn't design it. However, they are manufacturing it entirely themselves (although I would guess they still outsource parts), to their own standards. It seems like a step in the right direction. The 1887 Carrera chronograph is one of the few (or only?) TAGs that does anything for me. I like it better than a lot of watches from higher-end brands.

Thanks for the clarification, guys. Like I said, I'm not really into Tags so I don't know all the details about their movements. In any case, given the stuff they come out with at SIHH, it seems they should be able to put a little more "prestige" in their mainstream watches.
