Hi There!

Sorry to say I am not overly impressed, but to be honest I am viewing the pics via my I Phone. I am hoping it looks better on my computer.

However, I truly find offensive the date - in space traveling (lol) the date is insignificant; has no bearing.

I will keep an open mind until I get home!

Cheers

Enezdez

Frankly quite underwhelmed by the caseback.

I actually really like the caseback Fred, but like enezdez said, I think the date window looks truly awful the way it's chopping into the 10. :( I also don't think the red chrono hand works on it either. The Cosmo is such a busy dial that the red hand just adds another layer of "visual noise" IMO.

So far the TO 1461 is the only thing I even remotely like this year.

Hi Again!

Ok, it's not a display back but I really, really like the case back. I feel the case back is the best feature of the watch. I don't like the raised Breitling Wings although I do like them on the Navitimer B01. I feel the Cosmonaute is more of a military tool and as a result needs more of a utilitarian look and feel less than luxury - unfortunately they went with luxury. Driver8 may be right about the red chrono hands but push comes to shove, I can live with it. However, the date window is a deal breaker - the Cosmonaute should never be equipped with a date function. What do we know about the chronograph function is it a flyback? I kinda feel they made a 24 Hour Dial & placed it a B01 and called it a Cosmonaute.

Cheers,

Enezdez

Come on guys. It's a modern watch. The pic here doesn't do it justice I'm sure - just like the beauty of the Navi 01 is nearly impossible to capture by photos. I am encouraged by the publicity rendering because every Breilting I've seen - even the hideous ones - look better in person than in the renderings. (ok, except the red bezel Skyracer)

For me, the point is Breitling DID something other than completely turn their backs on their roots. And did it well IMunHO. Good for them.

Geez. On this thread I sound like the description of the Forum Facilitator Admin wrote up. :cheer: :cheer: Better find or do something to get me p.o.ed. "We gonna get yer mind right, son." ~ Cool Hand Luke

A new "space chronograph" with a manufacture calber

On May 24th 1962, Scott Carpenter orbitted the Earch three times aboard the Aurora 7 Capsule. On his wrist was a Navitimer with a 24 hour graduation
- a vital necessity in distinguishing day from night. It thus became the first wrist chronograph to travelin space. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this pioneer in the sphere of space conquest. Breitling is setting in to orbit a new Navitimer Cosmonaute model with 100% in house movement. This 1962 piece limited series is distinguished by its 24hour display, its manual winding - two tributes to the original 1962 chronograph - as well as the Aurora 7 insignia engraved on the caseback

Movement, Manufacture Breitling Calibre 02, offically chronometer- certified by the COSC, mechanical hand wound, high frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 39 jeweles. Over 70 hour power reserve, 1/4th second chronograph, 30minute and 12 hour totalisers, calender. Case: Steel, 1962 piece limited series. 30metres water resistancy. Bidirectional rotatiing bezel with circular slide rule. Cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides. Diameter 43mm

ALSO some amazing news- all breitling in house movements are covered with a WHOPPING 5 YEAR INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY!!

Interesting.

The cynic in me says that it's necessary to overcome the issues that have been well documented.

Is this warranty applied to new in-house movements only, or will they warranty anything 01?

The caseback is nice, no doubt, the watch is nice too, but not more than that for me.

As this is a new manual wind movement, a revival of sorts of the Lemanias, I had expected (or hoped) for something to rival the beauty of the Serie Speciale Lemania.

At least this has inspired me to a photo shoot of my Lemania Cossies that I have posted in the Watch Gallery viewtopic.php?f=5&t=38209&p=280082#p280082, the pic below might explain my being a little underwhelmed ?
