IWC does a Top Gun better, and hell the price isn't that much more at this point.

I love it, I like the red on it, sets it apart from a standard BEB chronomat.

I love the Top Gun emergency posted but the new one looks a bit odd with the red, may look ok in person I suppose!

I get the fact that it has to have the red ring because that's the logo, but I think a version other than the BEB would have given the dial a bit more balance.

A buddy of mine is an instructor out there right now, he is going to inquire about it this week, I'll let folks know what he finds out if an answer isn't up sooner.

But I have to imagine that like the USAF Weapons School B-1 LE, it'll be limited to those who attended and graduated the program.

Not a chance.

It's an LE of 500 - they'll sell it to anyone who is prepared to put the cash up!

I assume it's all brushed looking at that press release picture - in which case that's a very good move as the Chronomat 01 looks so much better brushed IMO.

I like the logo on the subdial and I actually like the fact it "unbalances" the dial a little. (I guess that's my Ploprof loving side coming out there!) However, I'm not a fan of it being a black-eye-model. It would've looked a lot better with an all-black dial IMO.

Just heard from a buddy of mine at the TOPGUN Schoolhouse that because IWC already has a licensed TOPGUN watch, Breitling is not going to produce the Chronomat 44 as shown previously. Apparently the cadre at the schoolhouse struck the deal with Breitling, but once the Navy found out about it, the deal was off. I guess time will tell.

I'm not reay a fan of either watch, I would still prefer an Airwolf with the patch at the 9 o'clock position. I guess I can always just get mine modified.

IWC struck a deal with Breitling to be able to use the Top Gun logo on this model as long as they didn't releases it or advertise it during Basel. Someone posted a link to the agreement, has that changed?

Not sure,

we will not get the watch here in Austria. I have heard a rumor, that the USNavy bought the whole series of 500pcs. But not confirmed.

If anything I would think they would use an Aerospace as the base model...In most cases that model seems to be "THE" Pilot's watch...
