Hi, thought this would be a nice thread question to ask, when did you get your first Breitling (which one?) and what got you attracted to them? Also, what turned you into a collector of Breitlings?

Would also especially like to hear from Roff,Rene, Fred, Kurt, etc.:) who've got amazing collections and extensive knowledge on them but had to start somewhere. Also love to know the secret on Roff, who has amazing knowledge about almost every Breitling produced, the guys a walking encyclopedia, he could write a book on Breitlings beginnings to current times with info on all the models they ever produced in there and I would love to read it,maybe start with an ebook for the iphone? Offcourse, waiting for when Kurt writes a book dedicated to the Navitimers!

I don't have much to say about myself since I don't have a collection yet and since am a newbie still, but I think the rich aviation history of Breitling and it's continued use in aviation today got me attracted to vintage Breitlings. Not many companies have watches that are practically used any more in a field they were famous and known for though watch companies still produce them, for example divers don't use diving watches anymore etc. but with Breitlings, their watches in different forms can and are still used in aviation today, the latest being the Mayday signaller, that's my story:)
