Submariner or DateJust II and be done with it. Yachtmaster's tend to have a lower resale value and I just don't like PAM's (obviously my opinion).

Gmt IIC Bud!!!! I love mine ,and wont get rid of it unless they come out with a Pepsi Ceramic. They can be found for 5900, but you better move fast. I for-see a price increase shortly

My initial thought is to go with the Milgauss from your list, as I was enamored by the pics, but when I tried it on the heft just wasn't there, but that may not be a preference of yours. It is my favorite SS Rolex, although the GMT is a winner too.

At 6K I think thee are lots of options if you spend the time needed. Have you considered a second hand Reverso? That is at the top of my lead contenders for my first trip above the 5K mark. I have also really taken a liking to the Omega DeVille lineup as a dressy contender.

That's what I love about this place... the flurry of wisdom and righteous opinions... 8) and I really think everyone has a valid point, even the simplistic "get it over with" posts and one word answers.

So been doing a lot of thinking... since the morning actually...

To save me all of the nonsense contemplation, I did at first go with a very simplistic approach like UofR. Even mentioned by Twotone and Scott's previous experiences, I did look at the throwback GMTs. Even looked at the super plain ND Subs (14060 and 5513) and the ever-so-ultra simple Explorers. Of course always looking for great vintage "B" pieces as well, but I'm putting the whole vintage thing on hold for now. And mentioned by countless members including Dracha and Mac, jnelson had a GMTIIc on the dealer's corner a month back and that was the one I totally missed out on. (yes I'll say it again)

But here's how I work, and perhaps maybe some of you might be able to relate to me as well. For me to come up with 2-3k doesn't take too much. For me to (patiently) come up with any amount north of 5k and have the fortunate financial freedom to drop on a watch doesn't come up often. (that is for now  ) Basically I want this one to count... big... I'm just a modest shopkeeper who makes an effort to earn his keep. Plus, I'm kinda done with the whole flipping thing and all of the watches I buy are intended to grow old with me.

Love the JLC ideas, esp. the MC chrono... totally forgot about that one... started googling immediately and found one on TZ only to be sold just yesterday.

The PAM was given extra extra thought and I don't dress up to work per say, but I do wear a lot of button down shirts and that might cause a problem, albeit annoying at times. But PAMs will always be PAMs and I do think even later on down the road it won't be late to consider one in the watchbox, whether the ever popular 000, 112, or even a 359. But for my "IT" watch at the moment, I think it can wait. By the way some dude's got a 359 on TRF for $5500. Asked him as of this morning and he's still got it.

What kinda drew me to the B01 was the cool factor. Breitling's first "modern" in-house as it is. Great looks (but as I mentioned only in the configuration I mentioned in my 2nd post), good size for a 7 inch wrist, etc., but of course as mentioned we all know everyone's stance on the B01 here on the forums. I think I still want to keep this one in the running.

To sum it all up, I just wanted something that had a bit of unique factor, great value for the money, a bit of understated bling, but all in all something that I won't be itching to post up in the FS section six months later. Is that too much to ask for??? :crazychanger:

Thomas... The Reverso was very heavy on my list... esp the Squadra Hometime GMT with the DB... flip it over and you can show off the sweet JLC movement... that's bling IMO right there...

You guys wouldn't believe a lot of the deals I missed out on the past 3 months all over internet fora. But of course stupid ol' me thinking what's the point of buying a cake and eating it months later?

I apologize to everyone if I sound like stupid crazy, but I'm just super stoked right now. :superman:

The 976 is tops on my list for just that reason. With a normal DB I may look at it from time to time, but with the reverso set-up I would probably wear it flipped 30% of the time. Just a cool feature and certainly iconic in a non-Sub way.

Many of us have been where you are now, with a serious dose of watch fever.

One interesting thing I noticed is that there seems to be no particular preference for bracelet or strap. The Rolexes are clearly bracelet pieces while the Pam and now JLCs are typically band watches. Very interesting.

Reading your last two posts, it sounds to me like the 'it' watch for you is really a JLC, or maybe the GMT-C. I personally favor the MC but a Reverso is also an iconic piece. One thing I have learned in the last year of fast and furious sales and purchases is that another one usually comes along. It's a Breitling site and we (nearly) all own at least one, but as an icon and long-term keeper ( unless we're talking pre-owned Navi 01 LE), a GMT-C or JLC just seems more likely to be the one you won't flip. I'm guessing the next reasonably priced GMT-C or JLC MC or Reverso that comes along will be yours. Good Luck.

Yeah I'm not too particularly picky with my watches... as you stated majority of Rolexes come with bracelets, and most JLCs come on straps... I guess I just have that "okay I'm down with whatever" attitude...

But thanks to everyone again for the opinions. I guess I'll just have to see how this plays along in the meantime.

You can also count Shark,Serge as Gmt IIc owners ,and I am pretty sure the GMT is Serge's fav...I say wait until after Basel, alot of Rolex will be dumped once the new pieces come out.

Milgauss. It's the Rolex for original thinkers.

I'll have to agree on the Milgauss... a polarizing design with the whole lightning bolt thing going on but great great value on the second hand market as well...

Well, few purchase them new, some day they'll be rare... Sure, they are bound to increase in value. But the more valid question is, would you like wearing one? Same as the Pam: if you don't love it with your heart, AKA the bit that doesn't think rationally, don't do it, if you do, don't hesitate. I think it is an emotional decision.
