Hey everyone!

Just wondering, does anyone happen to know exactly how many components and hours of manufacture goes into Breitling Watches? I'm sure they all differ from each model but I think it would be cool if someone could shed some light on the subject...

Cheers!!

The flash video of the process is on the Breitling website and mentions a 10 month production and certification process.

I think it's around 200 - 250 or so component parts on average. I know the perpetual calendar models are over 500 parts.

Cool. Thats alot of moving components! It really warrants Breitling's quality factor when you hear of people having a Breitling for many years and experiencing no trouble. Thanks for the input fellas!! :)

Good question! Found this whilst looking for an answer...

A simple mechanical watch contains roughly 130 components. More complex watches contain hundreds of parts. The Calibre 89 made by Patek Philippe contains 1728 parts and is probably the most complex watch ever produced.

The complications of the Patek Philippe Calibre 89 include the phases of the moon, the date of Easter, the times of sunrise and sunset, indications of sidereal time and a star chart. The watch was made to mark the 150th anniversary of the firm in 1989; only four were produced. One was sold at auction in Geneva in 2004 for over 6.6 million Swiss francs.

The most complicated automatic winding wristwatch to be produced as a series (limited to 30 pieces) is the Blancpain 1735, which contains 740 components, each one individually adjusted, hand-finished and hand-decorated. Some components are no thicker than a human hair, and their intricacy is such that very few watchmakers have the skills required to make all of the complications. Each watch takes a year to craft.

Hey, I just found a wristwatch that has even more component parts! The Vacheron Constantin Tour d'Ile.

Made in 2005 to celebrate 250 years of business VC made the world's most expensive and at the same time most complicated wristwatch.

Only seven pieces were made, each with 16 different complications, including sunset time, perpetual calendar, second time zone and the representation of the night sky.

The watch is made of 834 parts!!! And is valued at $1,500,000!

VC needed more than 10,000 hours of research and development to create this masterpiece. Cool! 8)

Amazing!

But sorry Driver, if only making 7 watches it can't qualify as a running serie, I guess...
