Inspired by Tom´s latest acquisition decided to take some pics of these great watches, groundbreaking in the late 60s, but still quite impressive today.

40 years of the "big case", from a 1967 white dial Chronomat to the last (for now) "left crown" Chrono-Matic, hope you enjoy the show.

1972 Navitimer ref. 1806
1972 SuperOcean ref. 2105

thank you for your feedback, guys !

@Roff: the SuperOcean is really a very nice piece, promised to publish some pics in the vintage section and forgot, will have to do that, as it came with the factory sticker on the back and the original rather rare corduroy box. Must have been one of - if not the - first 20atm waterproof automatic chronographs in the world !

Must admit that I personally like the NOS Chronomat 0818 a lot, this one does look absolutely incredible on the wrist, with that nice factory original Tropic strap and those orange hands that just pop out at you.

These watches were real trendsetter in size, design and especially groundbreaking in technology, a time when Breitling was leading the pack in technological innovations, sad to see how quickly this period of bold growth strategies ended in the demise of the original company.

For all those that are less into these times when Breitling was the Apple of the watch industry:

nice, jma, but frankly the 1808 were too similar to the 1806, minimal difference, so my collection covers manual and automatic "big case" examples, the only thing that might tempt me would be a GMT.

Thanks for the compliments, they are not too shabby, as Roff would say, but more important for me represent a time when Breitling was a leading innovator with groundbreaking technology and design.

Hey Fred. Missed this first time around.

Stunning line up of the pizza or fried egg cases. Planning to add anymore?
