As i've just purchased my first Ling. I'm just wondering about insuring it! What would your advice be. I know some of you lucky lads have more than one in your collection so I was just looking for another bit of advice or if there would be more than one option.

This has been discussed on here a few times - consensus is that it's enough to add it to your homeowner's contents policy. The cost / restrictions vary hugely by country and company, but that's the usual approach.

I'm lucky, I don't have to pay extra for anything in my contents as long as the total insured value doesn't exceed a percentage of the house insurance value - I just need to declare all items over $1,000.

If you're renting then presumably you still have contents insurance, if you are living in someone else's house you should be able to add it to their policy.

Renter's insurance would cover your belongings. Make sure you photograph the watch and retain the serial numbers in a safe place.

Do you have any experience with them? From the site, it seems that they only insure regular type jewelry, with no mention of watches. Other than that, their prices seem rather good.

When I've purchased a new watch, my AD has signed me up for a special watch insurance (for free), covering the whole value for 18 months whatsoever the reason of loss/damage. After that period I have the option of either extending the insurance time or adding it to my house insurance - I've chosen the house insurance every time so far.

renters insurance will sometimes only cover an individual item up to a certain dollar amount. i purchased an individual articles policy. to insure my blackbird for full replacement value was $68 a year with a $250 deductible.
