Bl**dy hell, that's an accurate fake. :guns:

However, number 1 (on the left) is the fake ; number 2 (on the right) is the real one. But even so, that fake is going to catch out a lot of people.

The give away for me is the Breitling Wings. Left is fake, right is real as driver said.

Crazy stuff, the wings was the only giveaway that I could see from a photo.

Yeah the Wings, plus the hands (the fakes are not well finished enough), the lume isn't so well applied and the Buck font on the bezel is slightly out. But unless you are very VERY familiar with the gen or have a gen to compare it to, then it's scarily accurate. So that's another model to never buy without full papers.

Amazing the amount of people in the comments on that blog who got it wrong deciding on the fake though.

Thats a hard one to spot. I sure wish they would put a stop to this B.S. It makes me think twice before i buy any highend watches used.

I see the SOII as a counterfeiters dream. With a watch like that, it's all about the broad strokes. Bold shapes and colors along with the use of rubber and and no real distinguishing features makes it, IMO, not very difficult to fake.

It's a commentary on the watches design that is can be so thoroughly and completely faked in such a short period of time.

The "B" on both the crown, and the logo were slightly off as well on the left. But, unless you were close and looking for it, it would be very easy to miss.

Thats crazy close. The thing that gave it away for me was the "10". The 1 and the 0 arent lined up perfectly with each other. I actually thought #1 was the real one on the first pic though, and I own one of these things.

I had to chuckle at these silly comments:

Archie

Often the Bezel will yield the answer ! If it is Breitling it will have 120 very fine clicks.
The Beijing will have 60 sloppy ones.

Ian

I think no2 is the fake. It just looks too good. Also there is a mark, Ithink it may say “Swiss Made” on the vertical part of the bezel near the 6.

Biggest tells are the wings logo as Sergio pointed out and the rounded corners on some of the dial and bezel numbers - very sharp corners on most of the gens' arabics. Font too bold but pretty darn close. almost imperceptably sunken date wheel. Also on this one and every other fake SOII I've seen, the metal surrounds on the lume at 6 and 9 and the triangle at 12 are too thick (rather the lume fill is too small). These are all prett picky tells, no doubt!

I'm sure there are some out there with good wings logos. It just depends which batch and from whom the Chinese manufacturer got the logos that month.

Almost as good as the top Steelfish fakes. The arabics are a bigger tell than anything on the best Fish fakes.

Simple watch designs will always be well-replicated. I don't take that as a knock on the design. Without passing on the design of the SOII, simple often translates to beautiful or classic. And easily replicated. There are a s##t load of scary good Subs out there too.

Great article. It's amazing how accurate a fake can be!!! Makes you think twice on buying a high end watch. Thank god for Roff and Fred and the rest of you's who are very knowledgeable for spotting fakes for BS buyers. The wings gave it away for me but I had to look at the magnified logo to see the difference.

There are several more detailed pics if clicked on somewhere around the photo.
