Hmmmmm........ I just went into town at lunch and obviously glanced in the window of my AD... (as I tend to do on a pretty regular basis!), and I noticed they had a new white dial Chrono-matic 49 in the window.

Now I know that my last post about the first CM49 I saw wasn't over postive, but that one had a bronze dial on a brown croco strap. However, the white dial version looked really nice in the flesh - so much so that I actually tried it on and was amazed at how much better it looked.

The bezel didn't look so matt against the white and this one was on a black calf strap (rather than croco) which has slightly more of a matt finish which seems to work really well with the bezel.

I have to say I really liked it! I could even possibly overlook the fact that it's not got the left-hand crown! I may just have found the 2008 model that I might buy........

That was more the reaction that I expected from you on this watch.

I don't think it's good enough for me to replace items already on the list, but it does look good. I've only seen the white in the flesh, so can't relate to the different dials.

Maybe it's just me, but the difference between the bronze and the white was a real eye-opener..... much more than I ever thought in the pictures. I think the white really goes back to the classic Chrono-matic that has been in the last few Chronologs in the section that shows the timeline of the Breitling company.

I think this one has just been boosted right up the list for me. (Still a lot of cash at over £4000 though....)

I certainly agree on the white dial issue.

But why did they not keep the left crown?

Agreed. A left hand crown would've been the absolute deal clincher for me, so it's a shame they've not included it.

But to be honest I think I might go for one of these anyway. The white dial version has really made impression on me!

At my AD it was just over £4000! Which means it'll be a while before you see any pictures of one on my wrist!

It sounds like you've fallen into the trap, so I'm quite sure we'll see it on your wrist after a while... :)
