ouch, too much contrast in hand v/s dial lume with those luminova replacements, I am guessing looking for a set of period correct replacement hands is almost an impossible mission!

True. Btw when everyone mentions a Breitling service does it mean that it goes to Breitling recommended service shops like to Mark Heist of Horological services or does Breitling have a separate vintage servicing division ?

Thanks

Breitling USA recommends The Heists and does not perform work on the vintage pieces themselves
Other countries have different policies. Switzerland does it themselves , Germany the main importer does it as authorized breitling service center
I have seen B UK also do work on vintage pieces but the quality varies a lot and you cannot tell them to save certain parts (like hands) ! The Heists will of course do that for you

After having seen Cronodeco's work here on the forum I decided not to use Breitling at all anymore or even ask them , or any other watchmaker or that matter. Rather spend some extra on shipping than let a local watchmaker ruin perfect patina to 'restore' a watch that didnt need restoring but only a service !

Thanks Dracha. Similar with Rolex too, there are some Rolex service centers you wouldn't want to send a vintage watch to since they will ruin it with service replacement parts which are easily identifiable from the originals(they do that even if instructed not to do so esp in the US). Their motto is to make the watch look like new, not maintain it's vintage character. Offcourse there are some Rolex service centers like in the UK and here in Oz that will only do the work you instruct them to do. To avoid the risk by sending to Rolex for a service, many ship theirs to well known independent watchmakers which is the safest way to maintain originality, guess same with Breitling too.
