Hi guys,

After selling my black SOH 46 last year I'm in the market for a new watch. Next to a Rolex Submariner 116610LN and a IWC Portofino Hand Wound I'm also looking at a Navitimer 01 (Limited Edition maybe??).

My SOH had a great Ocean Racer strap with PERFECT deployment buckle and now I'm wondering how a Navitimer (01 or older model) would look with a rubber Breitling strap (ocean racer strap OR diver pro 2 strap).

Do you guys have any pictures for me? It would help me alot!

Thanks guys

Pieterjan

taste is very personal but I firmly believe that a (rubber) dive strap does not go with an aviation style watch but I might be persuaded to a different view if I see the combo in person or pics

I had a black ocean racer on my silver dial Navi, it looked quite rugged and modern. I don't think I took any pics though!

Rubber on a Navi is definitely not for me.... but as others have said, preferences are a personal thing.

For any Breitling:

1st choice - metal
2nd choice - leather
.
.
.
17th choice - rubber, that's what my 9 year old daughter has on her Baby-G.

Just my personal preference.

Yes this is definitely a personal preference and what looking you're going for, but as the style is towards bigger dials so is the increasing popularity of rubber straps. If I want to be very dressy then I would have the watch on a bracelet, or a leather/croco strap. But (as you can tell by my existing collection) I like the rubber straps and even for everyday work in a suit I stick to rubber.

I totally agree. Navitimer 01 looks much better on black calf or black croco.

I don't care much for rubber, but it's got one big thing going for it -- there's none of that annoying contrasting stitching.

I was really against the rubber straps, until I got one... It is now my goto strap all summer long... with the occasional bracelet switchup. Go with what you want!

I think rubber is fine on most of the watches in the Aeromarine, windrider and proffessional ranges but not really any of the Navi range. It's too traditional for rubber IMO.

I agree with most of the comments made. It is always a personal preference but I would say that a Navitimer deserves more than rubber.

I think the strap on the portifino is gorgeous and it has a hand wound 8 days movement.

As the saying goes, why mess with a classic?
