Which are the early SuperOceans?

Hi, was trying read up on Super Oceans but don't see much info available on their history(50's?), any articles et al describing the various references? Also what was the depth rating on them then and currently and the diameter and approximate prices the vintage ones go for?

if I am not mistaken the 2 earliest are 36 (ref 1004) ,37 (ref 807) which were released in the same year and 39 ref 2005 was the follow up
the ref 1004 and ref 807 are hardly ever offered and prices range between 4500-6000 euro and up , the ref 2005 you see offered between 2000-4500 and up depending on condition

all were 600ft waterproof

diameter for all is approx 41-42 mm , quite big even in these days

Thanks for the detailed info Dracha, going through it, very interesting! Any idea how well they were received by the diving community?

I really dont know
I can only assume the 'diver community' was very small back in the mid-50ies and early 60ies, so only a few pieces were sold to actual divers ?, but I am really guessing here

Browsing thru" ref 1004 and ref 807, how easy is it to get parts for ref 1004 and ref 807, things like the bezel insert and hands? I see they have 2 different movements, is the B-125 on the 1004 a Breitling inhouse, if not by whom? The chrono looks cool too.

very rare watches and parts are almost impossible to find. Last year there was an imperfect 807 for sale and a parts watch at the same time, somebody hopefully was smart enough to grab the two, wasn´t me and I hate that.

Here's a family shot of all the SuperOceans.

Spanning roughly 1958 through to the early Seventies.

Out of interest, I think the chronograph (807), must have a good claim to be the world's first
production made diver's chronograph.

If anyone knows of an earlier one, I'd love to know.

In terms of size they get bigger, the first two around 38mm, the Sixties ones around 40mm, and
the large one at 47mm.

The last two have screw down crowns, which the earlier ones don't.

There's a 1004 bezel for sale right now , if you have some spare $$$ you may want to pick it up 'just in case' , if been trying to talk myself out of buying it !!

and this is the movement of a 807 , there's (was?) one 807 for sale last week with an incorrect caseback

Thanks Dracha, where is the bezel for sale? Also are bezels and hands from the 1004 and 807 interchangeable? Also, can the bezel pearl be popped out or is it fixed/glued in?
