I would have cleaned the movement and dial and would have kept as much originality as possible .. but this seems more like butchering not just the dial but the whole personality ? .. and I am sure JM will disagree with me :(

Ouch.

To me that looks like the work of someone who is very good at understanding how the mechanics of the watch should come together and function, but without any appreciation of the 'soul' of the watch. Is it a more practical piece now - certainly, but it's lost everything that made it such a special watch.

The watch lost its soul, I fully agree. As far as I know , the watchmaker who "restored" this Navi seems to have a good reputation among french enthusiasts. Clinically the job is nice, but finally the result is "frigid" .
