I'm on the hunt for a leather strap for my Super Avenger. I want a croco on a deployment - but the price   I can't believe how expensive they are! Is there much difference between the croco and the normal leather strap? There is a huge difference in price, I just wouldn't want to buy the normal strap and regret it!

Cheers
Damian

The normal calf strap is among the best leather straps around. Quality of both is top notch. It ust comes down to the calf vs. gator skin material cost, I believe.

Basically as RJRJRJ said, you pay for exclusivity and rarity of material - i.e. crocs are harder to come by than cows.... and probably a bit harder to catch too!

In terms of construction, the calf and croco straps are identical. Calf straps are generally a bit softer and mold to your wrist quicker than croco, but IMHO croco just looks the business!

Shop around a bit - like trying Swisswatchstore - and you may be able to pick one up a little cheaper than at an AD, but you will still pay around £200 for one.

I've got brown croco on my SA. Here is the link to the only photo of it that I have on here at the moment (it's not the best picture unfortunately but should give an idea) -

I had blue croco on it for a while too. Here's the link to that one too -

I really need to post a few more pics actually! :? )

 I'm down to just one strap these days.

You've been keeping a bit of a low profile of late, Ling Man..... I guess it took a shot of my white SA in it's full croco glory to fire you up!  (I have actually been thinking about trying the white SA on a bracelet for a bit, so maybe I'll be doing that soon...... but I do like to have at least one strap in the collection).

PS - Never fear, the Le Mans will NEVER be on a strap!

I've just been busy, I'm still out here watching to see which guy's are DEGRADING their Lings and responding accordingly. It's good to hear that you will not DEGRADE your Lemans because that thing is awesome.
