I see that no one complains about the lack of models with day (week day) display...
The CSO was the last affordable model that had that feature, and now it's gone, but nobody seems to miss it anyways.
Another annoyance in the Breitling lineup for me, the weak waterproofing on the Navitimer models and some others. This is a real deal breaker for me...

Seems like I share majority's opinions here, since only very few models of the current lineup manage to raise interest in my eyes. Luckily they have re-introduced the Blackbird, the Navis are still as lovely as always, and the Transocean Chrono is a very nice take on less-is-more approach, but that's about it then.

I've been lurking around a while now, partly due to I'm heavily considering getting me my first proper watch, and partly also due to my long love for Breitlings. This community seems to be nice, with plenty of like-minded individuals around the globe.

I liked that feature about the CSO. I also think the Headwind, which had a day display, was a very cool model, and its discontinuation was a step in the wrong direction for Breitling. That said, the absence of a day display isn't a deal breaker for me, one way or the other. Most of my favorite watches don't have that feature, so I can't really criticize Breitling in particular for not having it in more of their models. If Breitling made watches I like as well as my favorite Rolexes, Omegas and Panerai (none of which have the day feature), I'd be quite pleased, lack of day notwithstanding.

Since when? Did I miss an announcement?

Theres still two left in the current lineup I'd buy if I had the funds...Chronospace Auto and Bentley mkVI 19 comp. Nothing else in the range is calling to me, or sufficiently different visually to the ones I have. I could go gold on something I suppose, but I'd probably end up going for gold on a model I already have. So, I guess I'm saying that for me anyway, since 2007 Breitling have marketed six watches I love and desire....thats two more than I could afford in the same time scale. Ergo, I'm happy with Breitlings lineup at the moment :)

Ditto what Roff said. That's the old one that has been discontinued. Breitling continues to show newly discontinued watches on its website as long as there is still a fair amount of old stock available at dealers. That, and they're very slow to update their website. I'm not sure why you only noticed it yesterday, but the Blackbird has been there for quite a while.

I have not been here in a while so take this with a grain of salt. As a business the watch industry has changed, something we all know. That said, as long as the new designs sell we can not expect Breitling, or any other watch manufacture for that matter, to change their style. I have four B's that I like a lot and have no intent to move. I also do not like much else out there except a Omega or two but that is all. I feel all of the Breitling's have been moved into a price point that is competitive with IWC and Rolex. I have always felt IWC was overpriced for what you get and Rolex has never done much for me. All this said, if we do not like where the line is going, don't buy it. I have been an avid amateur photographer for over forty years. I competed with other photographers for thirty years on what I believed was a equal footing. When digital came along I fought it tooth and nail but now have a full blown digital set up. Now things are moving to almost all software based images, not photographic ability. I have stopped competing and just shoot what I like and enjoy it.
Keep what you have and enjoy it. Find an other brand that speaks to you and stop concerning yourself with Breitling. You will be happier with what you have and might find something you enjoy better. Just my .02 but then I am an old guy and my "time"is running out anyway.
Frank.

Frank, a smart, balanced view that does not sound old, at least to me. And the picture shows a quality software or digital technology can not replace, perfect composition, a photographer's eyes.

thank you for that - and it seems like your watch family has grown over the last months ? congrats and welcome back.

Interesting points, Frank. If Breitling continues down this road, a lot of us may move on to the point where we really have stopped caring. For now, the slump is too recent for many of us to have given up completely; we're still in the denial/anger phase, and haven't reached acceptance. I think a lot of us are hoping it's a temporary slump, and things will turn around so we never do have to reach acceptance.

Thanks for the response. The problem, as I see it, is if they do sell the the company has no reason to find it's way back to it's roots.
For the time being I will not be buying anything new and watching the horizon for what will be coming in the future.
Thanks, good to be back, Frank.

Good to have you back Frank.

I love your attitude towards the changes in the Breitling lineup, and wish there was more positivity spread around here.

That pic you showed, I have remembered it since you posted it in the Gallery, and I have shown it to several of my friends. You have a photographers eye as Fred said, no one will ever be able to replicate that with software.

If I read Frank's comments correctly, I'm not reading positivity in them. He doesn't appear to like the Breitling lineup any better than the curmudgeons among us. The difference is he has taken a more zen, transcendental approach, where he's not sweating the small stuff, whereas the curmudgeons get their vas deferentia in a knot. So perhaps the lesson isn't more positivity, but less negativity? My nether regions could probably benefit from that. Then again, it probably wouldn't be nearly as fun.

Frank, I've come to know you as a man beyond his years. Well put my friend.
