There are lots of new things I don't like about the new lines, but I love the Nav and the Chronomat more than ever.

I am tainted as I don't care for Arabics, so I never liked the Steelfish. I don't mind the rubber bezels either. Lots of rubber offerings out there now....

Fingers crossed for a LE Blackbird with an in-house movement, new bezel font compass bezel, faceted bracelet and display back. I'll be the first in line.

I'm with BimmerDriver17!

Just bought my first Breitling (well actually it was a gift from my future inlaws) and I had to go searching to find my SO Steelfish as I was really not a fan of the new SO and there wasn't much else in the budget we were looking at. love the look of my steelfish and kinda disappointed at the current direction

I really wish they would bring back the Blackbird. The Flying Fish isn't even close. I found one at an AD but it has the brushed bracelet that I don't want and the AD that I buy all my watches from can get it!!

Although I'm not a fan of rubber bezels, I agree with Justin's opinion of the Chronomat and Navi. (And I loved the Steelfish) My Chronomat B01 ltd is an absolutely gorgeous watch and I love it. I prefer satin finish, so the new font doesn't bother me. The new Navi is damn near perfect, and this new movement has been amazing for me. Mine is within one sec per day. I hope the new BB will be as great as anticipated.

So this is going to sound crazy but I saw a SO Chrono II today with the yellow dials and the DPII strap and I loved it in person. This is the same watch I was laughing at in the chronolog.. it was just awesome in person. Looks like I will be getting this watch! :lingsrock:

It's hard to know what's happening in the collective head at Breitling, but I wonder if some of us feel like they've taken their minds off things like their heritage, design continuity and their traditional buyer and have focused on attracting new clientele. It's not bad to attract new buyers but heritage etc are a big cost.

It was not that long ago when the biggest style debates were over things like, "is a polished Blackbird really a Blackbird." How things have changed in a couple years.

I don't like the majority of the Breitlings.
When I saw the Cockpit two-tone I had to have it.
So I got it!!
Go figure?

I acknowledge that a watch can often sell itself in person, compared to a lackluster appearance in pictures. When I finally saw a Chronomat 01 in person, I was actually pretty impressed by it - not enough to buy it, but I respected it. I can't say that about the new SO line. I saw a standard (non-chrono) SOII in person - I think it was blue, with DPII strap - and was utterly underwhelmed by it. It was obviously of a better grade than your average Invicta; the quality was evident despite the trashy look. But the look was what killed it for me, quality or no. Between the rubber bezel and the kiddie-toy color accents, I just couldn't take it seriously. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it, either. And if I'm going to spend the kind of coin Breitling demands, forget liking it. I've got to love it.

I had the sem reaction when I saw the CSOII. There is something "real watch" about metal sub surrounds or no surrounds at all. The colored sub surrounds didn't do it for me. If they are good for others, that's cool.

To get back to the OP, he said he used to be able to look up and down the entire line and find watch after watch that hew would own. That's was my experience as well. And like the OP, it just isn't that way anymore.

So the funny thing is when I saw ad pictures I hated the yellow sub surrounds but in person they are much more subdued and I liked it. However, I am in the market for a more casual watch, so I was specifically looking for something that I could wear with a rubber bracelet. I did not expect to like this watch at all but I ended up thinking it was awesome. Also fit my wrist well..

:yeahthat

And there it is in a nutshell. Most of the current lineup consists of models I don't like. What's more, the only current Breitling models I would want to own are priced so high that either (a) I simply wouldn't be willing to spend that amount on them, or (b) if I would, I can think of a number of other watches by other brands that I would buy first. Price considerations aside, my favorite Breitlings remain past models.

Hmm...I thought it sounded like business as usual on this forum.
