Does anyone out there use their chronograph so often that you find it more convenient to just leave the pushers unscrewed? I am obviously pointing this toward models with screw down pushers such as a Chronomat or such.

I've done it before. Won't hurt anything, except will reduce the W/R, but still higher than your former World.

I didn't particularly like the look on the Evo or CSO.

Leaving the pushers unscrewed doesn't impact water resistance, it's just a preventive measure against accidentally activating the pushers underwater. Only the crown affects the rating when unscrewed.

There I go again believing what an AD told me!! When will I learn? He said the screw downs increased the w/r from 100 to 300m.

The manual on both the Evo and CSO specifically says to leave the pushers screwed in when not in use, although it does not explain why this is necessary. Any idea why it's recommended, if leaving them out doesn't impact WR?

No clue, probably just because it reduces the likelihood of damage.

Whatever the reason, it made me paranoid to leave the pushers unscrewed for any length of time. Plus, as Sharky points out, they don't look quite right when unscrewed. So, per Cheatle's question, I always left them screwed in. As such, using the chrono was kind of a pain on both models, and screw-in pushers are now a pet peeve of mine. I'm not saying I absolutely won't buy another chrono with screw-in pushers, but the feature is definitely a strike against such a model.

Always screwed in. I don't like them "ready for activation". I have never found a time when I said "I could have timed that event if only my pushers were not locked."

Its one reason I dont like screw down pushers. Theyre a pet peeve of mine too. They look stupid when unscrewed, and are a b*tch to use if screwed down.

I don't leave them unscrewed, it looks weird and it really doesn't take al that long to unscrew them. It's not like they have to be torqued down really tight.

This isn't quite on topic, but I'm curious - of those who say they don't mind the screw-down pushers, does anybody find them to be of any particular advantage over the non screw-down type?

Couldn't have said it better. i do like fiddling with them tho. i sit there screwing and unscrewing when i'm bored or distracted. Sounds a little ADHD.

I wasn't aware of this. I've always been unsure how thight I have to screw down the pushers in order to maintain the water resistance. Thanks for this useful piece of information!
