Hey guys, I'm sure some of you can relate to this, even for a different brand or watch. Long story short, I traded my one and only Rolex, a GMTIIc to RJ a few months back. We met F2F, and he is a great guy and we made a super trade. I love the PAM 320 he traded me and it is one of my all time favorite watches. Thanks RJ! Now the bad stuff... I miss my Rolex!! I really loved the GMT and am now in the hunt for another one or a Sub C. In order to justify another watch purchase (we all do it) I told myself if I lost 50 lbs, I would reward myself with a Rolex. Well I've lost just over 30 lbs now, and the 40mm looks even better on my once 8" wrist. As I grow closer to the 50 lb mark, I am getting excited, but now the Sub C's are drying up! One AD (a large one) told me there are NONE in the company. I have heard that Rolex was cutting back on production, but not sure if that was true or not.

Anyway, I am so missing my Rolex, and LOVE the ceramic bezels on the GMT and Sub. If anyone feels my pain, please comfort me..... Withdrawls suck!

46Crew, let me be the first to congratulate you on your weight loss....well done and I wish you success in reaching that goal of 50lbs.

As for Rollie withdrawal, although I do like some of their models, I'm not a Rolex devotee. Rolex just doesn't excite me to the degree that a number of other brands do. I feel the same about Panerai, although I would like to have a 321 sandwich dial in my collection, there are so many other makers and models that represent a higher priority to me.

The Sub C is a nice piece and I wish you luck in obtaining your heart's desire upon reaching your goal. It's a nice reward for a job well done, not too mention the health benefits that go along with it. Keep up the good work and keep your eye on the prize!

I understand....I bought my first GMT in 1969. Lost in '82-83.
I bought 14 watches...but they could not replace the GMT, so 3 months ago I replaced it with
a GMT II-C. You just have to face the fact and replace it ASAP !

Ya feel your pain! My 16610Lv is gone but not forgotten.. I think its just the Initial loss and regret that hits you first. I think it happens to all of us who sell a watch we like to trade up. I really know how you feel though! If I get a nice lv in the next few weeks I am jumopng on it. Boy I hope this felling wares off soon!

I understand. Owned a GMT for 9 years, sold it and then felt like I "needed" to have a Rolex in my collection, which is why I have the Yachtmaster. Just go on Elite Deal Seeker watches and there are always some popping up on Timezone, Watchnet and Rolex Forums. Most I have seen now are at or below $7K and just yesterday I saw the first 42mm black Explorer II down to just over $7K on one of those sites yesterday.

dude buy another gmt 2 c or get a subc its the only cure for the disease.

I go through the same as well but 'settled' on an Explorer II

the GMT IIc hurts me as its slightly to big for my wrist so I sold that one
the Sub C .. ermm cant get used to it
the new explorer , again , it pinches me

so as a daily wearer I am wearing an Explorer II , P serial , SEL and it has just the right size , black hands so it still has legibiity in the morning (I dislike Breitling silver hands against a whte silver dial as I cant tell time !!)

And the explorer is a lot cheaper than the GMT (why ?) but has the functionality I like as a frequent traveller

Its been months now and im liking the GMT more and more. Its becoming a permanent fixture on my wrist. So I guess the idea of a DSSD is out with the weight loss huh? I think the SubC is the way to go. It will be all the goodness of the GMT and you wont feel like youve been there/done that. Good luck with the next 20 lbs!

Thanks buddy, and thanks to everyone for their input. I have a deal smoldering, and hopefully in the coming months will be back in the Rolex fold. Until then, I am very happy with the current line up.

And the 320 is still getting lots of attention.

I lost 30lbs aswell and sold both of my Super Avengers to buy a Rolex Deepsea.

i know all the rolex guys think the dssd is a huge watch but for me being used to sa's i feel the dssd is small..

but now ive had it for a month and as im getting more inshape i now think the dssd is big...but i love it!

do i miss my SA's?..................Not one bit

Congrats on your progress!! For me, it was 90% diet. After I tweaked that, it the weight just fell off. As for the DSSD, I have considered it, and my wrist and frame is large enough to pull it off. But personally, I find the diameter to thickness ratio a bit off. I love the diameter, but want something a bit slimmer for wear wear in a suit, etc. I'm not saying it can't be worn in a suit, just not my taste. That's why I want a Sub. C. But if I found a DSSD I couldn't refuse, then who knows. The B04 GMT is very appealing, but I really want to go no larger than 44-45mm.

Yeah it is quite tall on the wrist.

The sub c is awesome and looks bigger now with the thick lugs.

Another option is the new 42mm explorer in black...it's nice too.
