She loves coach handbags and wallets ,Who am I to say no to her , for me its a small price to pay to have a happy wife. And besides its only money !! But if there was a way I could write them off I would be in heaven !!!
She never complains when I drop big G's on a watch or a new gadget or electronics.

Okay... here's my take... not in any way defending the OP's "Mrs." but only because I have a fashion background that I "understand" a bit more...

The house of Chanel has been around since 1909. Breitling has been around since 1884. Just as Breitling is known for their "classic" Navitimer, a lot of these fashion houses including Chanel pretty much revolutionized the way women dress up until this day. I respectfully beg to disagree that some of it is "silly fashion". Even as time evolves, each company has their own signature style and therefore over time been deemed classic in the fashion world. That quilted classic bag... my mother has one in navy... from +20 years ago. Still looking brand spankin new. She used to be a bag nut herself and has three more from the same company. All of them outlasting the fads and trends of the ever changing fashion world. She tells me all the time it's a good thing I bought those bags before because she wouldn't want to be dropping that kind of money anymore in addition to becoming a "simpler" person as she got older too.

Yes of course, dropping +4k for pieces of stitched up leather? Could be a bit ridiculous and unjustifiable. But in the long run, that bag will withstand the test of time and in even 30-40 years, it'll still be a classic.
