I am having to shop for a new AD now that the one I've been working with is removing their showroom and may lose their Breitling AD status soon. I stopped in to a new local AD today to get to know them and the Bell & Ross case caught my eye. I didn't know much about them but the 01 GMT has had my attention ever since that day.

Anyone want to share their experience with their Bell & Ross watches, the company or the BR 01-93 GMT. ...or said another way; someone talk me in to this watch. It won't be hard.

I had an 03 and was not impressed at all. The 01 is license plate size! Though the 03 is only 42mm, it wears large since it is square. The lume on mine was uneven. Mostly I could not acclimate to the width of the strap, but that is a personal taste thing. I like the look of the case and dial in the abstract, it just doesn't come together for me on the wrist.

not a B&R fan. i can not speak about the quality since i have never owned one but as for the designs they just dont do anything for me.

I agree that the 01 is plainly too big for my wrist but I thought the Navi World was at first too. I guess what caught my eye was the dial of the GMT reminding me of the dials on the plane I grew up flying. If they made it in a 42 or 39 I would be more apt to jump on it. The 46 truly is a license plate when I put it on. (good one!)

I'm cooling off on it a little...was hoping there was one owner here that had or is having a good experience with them.

I have to ask -- which plane?

We'll it was nothing romantic that's for sure...but I loved every second of flying it and I learned a lot all those years ago. It was an old Piper Warrior (PA-28) that had all the old school round gauges that look a lot like the dials on the B&R's. I sort of miss that plane.

I got my private, and began my instrument training, in a PA-28-161, and have fond memories of it, too. One of the best was flying to BNA for AOPA Expo in 1988, 10 days after passing my private checkride.

+1 I just haven't been able to appreciate the design of B & R's either. I understand the theme behind their design, but they just don't appeal to me...at least for now.

Peter, I had an 03 for a short time with the carbon case. Don't recommend the carbon pieces as the coating chipped rather easily. With that sad, I liked the dial design and as you mentioned it reminds me of an airplane instrument (also spent some time in the Piper Warrior) . The OEM wide straps were not very comfortable on my 7 in. wrist but after changing to a third party 24mm canvas it wore much better. Hmmm... wonder where you saw the B&Rs ? .

Wow you had GUTS to fly in to AOPA 10 days after getting your ticket!!! I was still getting comfortable with the class B around my home airport let alone flying in to a bar fight like one of those expos.

Well, it was a towered field at the center of an ARSA (now Class C), so it was easy enough, with ATC holding my hand the last 30-40 nm. The annoying part was staying below the clouds en route, having to deal with all the bumps. One of the best things about adding the instrument rating later was flying in the smooth air above the clouds.

You mean like this Wrangler? ...smooth as silk up here. This was on the way to the in-laws for Thanksgiving this year somewhere between Minneapolis and Chicago. Like you, up on top is my favorite place to fly!
