This is the first time I've seen a blank warranty card in a listing:

Nothing on it but the punched number, so from its face, it doesn't apply to any watch. I'm wondering how this happens. I don't see that there's anything to show that this watch came through an authorized channel, and I hear that Breitling may refuse to work on such a watch. Is that true?

Breitling, and in particular BUSA have been trying to clamp down on undated warranty books, and are looking for proof of purchase to demonstrate that the watch was sold less than 2 years ago, but I'm not sure what their legal position is there - failing to date a warranty is really an AD issue rather than a customer one.

In this case I assume that the AD simply forgot to fill in the model / serial number as well, but Breitling can confirm that it is correct for the watch by the punched number (although that would have to be done through an AD).

Undated I've seen before, but I had thought that the watch model was preprinted; apparently that's not the case.

I'm not asking about warranty. Will Breitling refuse to work on some watches, based on their source? I've read some places that this may be the case.

I've seen many older written ones.

Breitling will only refuse to work on a watch if the serial number has been removed, the watch has been modified, or in extreme cases if an unapproved repairer has worked on it and they now consider the movement to be 'non Breitling' based on the number of non Bretlign parts.

Every Breitling I have purchased from my local AD over the past several years have had warranty books left unfilled...and that's over a dozen watches. Never had a problem.

Same here Mark. I just write it in myself. There can't be an issue as BUSA has the warranty/registration entered into their computer with the date of purchase.

For a long time Breitling's sold out of the Carribean, or tax free shops, seemed always to have warranty cards that were not only not filled out but also not preprinted. These usually sell for a good price on ebay since they can be used to replace a missing warranty card. As someone else mentioned, Breitling knows when the watches were sold initially (in most cases) so it's really for collector value vs trying to get an unauthorized warranty repair.

Depending on the distributor, Breitling doesn't always know when the watch is sold. They know when the watch is shipped to the AD, but one of the reasons behind the free hat registration card in the US is to encourage timely reporting of actual retail sales.
