One of my contacts has a piece available which I have been seriously considering adding to the collection, but would appreciate any input.

The piece I'm considering is the GO Sport Evolution Impact Panorama Date. The entire piece is pretty unique for a couple of features; the first of which is that entire movement is floating or actually suspended within the case via four shock-absorbing mountings crafted in elastomer which provide optimal protection for the movement. The second unique feature is that the 46mm case is coated with mat black rubber which coordinates nicely with the rubber strap. As an added bonus it also possesses a display back. All in all I think it would make a nice addition for it's uniqueness, brand recognition, and price points.

My dilemma is should I hold off and wait for the right deal on a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or move ahead on this deal....if I move on this piece it would delay my ability to move on a BP FF deal if it comes along. I realize there is no comparison of the 2 pieces since they differ vastly in their type of service...one being arguably the best diver ever made and the other a really unique super quality sport watch. The prime factor that has me considering this now is the very attractive price points being offered. What to do...decisions decisions? What do ya'll think?

As nice as the FF is that GO is very cool. I'm a big fan of that model and I personally would pick it up if I could.

I like GO, but I would take the FF over that particular GO.

I would hold out for the FF....Both are superb, but one is an icon.

Beyond that...and I am sure GO has somehow combated this, but I would be wary of the aging of the rubber coating. Then again with the size of your kicks a** collection it may not get enough use to really matter

+1. I love GO, but there are very few sport/dive watches I would take over the FF...it has major appeal to me, and is an absolute icon a among dive watches.

:yeahthat

The FF is a real classic and I think this GO might not hold up as well in the long run.

Everything about that GO is freaking sweet. I love the DB. Still though, sounds like you really want the FF, so id hold off on this one. Awesome deals come around all the time. No point in jumping on this one just for the sake of it being a deal.

I'll start by saying the FF is one my all time grails. I was shocked how much I liked it when I tried it on. The sapphire bezel, the convex crystal, and even the sailcloth strap were all much nicer in person than I imagined. It also wore very well for a large watch.

That being said, that GO is badass. I've never seen it before. I like the color combinations and the suspended movement is great. The display back is great and the movement is beautiful. The weight on the rotor is 21 karat gold.

Earlier today I watched a GO DVD. It was an hour of eye candy and a tour of their factory and the process of watch making. GO makes EVERY part of their watches in-house including the smallest screws. They also make in house some the tools they use to make their parts. I was really impressed.

If the deal your getting is like some of the ones you got in the past, I'd go for it.

Good luck.

I would recommend the GO, as Blancpain always offers free movement troubles with their watches. They are fine, as long as You don't do any activities with the watch (the FF is clearly built for diving, but I would never use it therefore, as You will kill it for sure!), while the GO will definetly survive any crash. There might be a possibility to destroy the coating, but that is very slight. And the best thing: You wait at least half a year at the moment to get a new one from the factory...

I would like to thank all that contributed advise on my dilemma, I have to admit there was a lot of back and forth in my mind on these 2 pieces. Actually if I had my way I would get both, but it's not to be. As much as I love Glashutte Original, in particular I really like the uniqueness and looks of this Sport Evolution Impact Panorama Date, I had to agree with the majority that the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is the most iconic and worthwhile pursuit. The final clincher to seal the deal for the BP FF was a stroke of luck that turned up a pre-owned BP FF at almost the same price as the GO. So it is with a tad of regret that I will have to pass up the deal on the GO, but on the other hand I think I've come out on the better end with the BP FF. Thanks again for helping me out and I wish all of you folks a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :santa:
