In response to the 'issue' about water repellency for straps:

This is similar to what I use to proof them against splashes from liquids and foods.

Obviously take them off the watch and remove clasp/buckle first.

Whereas it doesn't discolour or make them waterproof, it does give you about 30secs or more to wipe off any splashes which would otherwise soak in ;)
