I screwed it counter-clockwise to get the pin to open. I was able to set the date but I cannot set the time.. I remember reading something about rotating it 40x in the manual, but I can't seem to find it.

please help.

To set the time, you have to pull the crown all the way to the end. Then move the time forward or backwards, it's your choice.

"Moving it 40 times" is to wind the watch it's available when you unscrew the crown.

i don't think a navitimer needs to be wound.

Hutt is correct about pulling the crown all the way out to set the time. First position is for date, second position time.

What do you mean it doesn't need to be wound? If there is no power in the power reserve, you need to wind the watch.

OP, that gives the "power" needed to your watch to work. The automatic movement is going to keep that power after with the movement of your wrist.

Hi Vickg,

I hope this helps :) .

Dictionary Definition:
To coil the spring of (a mechanism) by turning a stem or cord, for example: wind a watch.

On a manual (non battery operated watch) one needs to wind up the watch to keep it working - otherwise it will stop and need resetting (date and time).

Watch Winder Definition:
Watch winders are machines that keep self-winding automatic watches running when not in use. They are a popular, necessary tool for watch collectors. Automatic watches use mechanical movements, powered by a rotor or weight that uses gravity and the constant motion of the wrist. By keeping the watch functioning, the winder also keeps it lubricated while stored.

The device relieves watch collectors of having to wind and reset the day/date of their self-winding automatic timepieces. Mechanical watches should be wound daily to remain in good working condition.

I hope this is what you were asking for Vickg.

I wear the watch all the time, it never needs to be wound, maybe the first time, but after that the motion from your wrist will keep it going

Maybe yes, maybe no. Depends on the person wearing it.
