It doesn't matter to me which Hollywood celebrity reps Breitling. I always enjoy seeing fellow aviators represent the brand, Travolta just happened to be a good mix of both.

I still see him on the website. Like their discontinued models, I wonder how long we will see his face around.

It is true, he was transferred to Rolex. Wonder how much the transfer cost.

The comment that accompanied this pic was:

Quote:
What better watch for such a great actor and pilot than a Rolex Datejust? As seen in this picture, he is wearing a Datejust with a fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet with Crownclasp; a gorgeous Rolex watch. The initial Rolex Datejust was the first watch with a date function and the magnifying glass over the date was later used for most luxury watches from Rolex. This is a watch with a lot of history and special models were given to combat pilots after returning from battle; also it was the watch that managed to break the sound barrier when on the wrist of Chuck Yeager. Many other Rolex models actually have their foundation in the Datejust.

Although he might not be a fighter pilot, John Travolta looks great with his Rolex Datejust and his outfit.

This is an old photo of John with the SS Datejust.

I guess that anyone who would buy a watch based upon which celebrity owns / markets a brand will now buy a different brand. I for one think JT was a logical choice for billboard ads and such. I personally could care less which watch a celebrity wears. If in the same situation, we might all wear a different brand if they had our money on the table. Tiger Woods is now a Rolex celeb. I could not me more disinterested in owning a watch because of Tiger Woods. In fact, it probably does the exact opposite of appeal. You would think these "celebs" could afford to wear / endorse whatever brand they "liked" over the brand that pays them. After all, the best advertizing is based on quality of product vice quality of paid advertizing.

how do you know he "walked"?

Going by the gist of what's been said here, I presumed so.

Unless you'd like to share? :poke:

Many of us here fit that description, hence this thread. :)

I for one have never thought Travolta was a good choice for advertising a product.

* He has not had a respectable performance in a movie since Pulp Fiction. (see below)
Image

* Scientology...
* The rumours about his private life/sexuality. I don't condone anyone's lifestyle, but if they're lying about it then it's a bit different.

I also watched the whole of Battlefield Earth, I will never ever get that time back. Bad times.

It's time to update the notion of "Freudian Slip" and add "Freudian Autocorrect Fail."

Perhaps you meant - "I don't condemn anyone's lifstyle, but...." ??

Sorry, it's early, I'm tired, and that means ornery.

My chosen terminology was not appropriate then. My grasp of the English language is obviously not on par with your own, but thanks for the subtle mockery anyway.

No mockery. I used the phrase "autocorrect fail." (I would love to say, "Don't get butt hurt," but that could lead to all sorts of unintended consequences.). Seriousy though, sorry if you were offended by my attempt at a little humor.

I have contacted my representative with Breitling and he says, the contract has definitely not ended. There has been a new photoshooting this authum and Travolta will be brand ambassador for at least one more year if not longer. I don't know, from when that photograph with a Rolex is. According to the digital sig. its September 2011, but that does not mean much (it could have been digitalised that date). Travolta looks at least 10 years older now.
