I have already seen an ad with Wayne Gretzky wearing a Chronomat B01.

Did alittle research, Wayne Gretzky is the new ambassador to Breitling.

Not so new, he's been an ambassador for years.

It’s a tough question; Who has the fame to help grow the brand, is an aviation enthusiast & pilot and isn’t likely to end up in jail a couple times a year…
If you had to choose, which one would it be?

1. Harrison Ford
2. Angelina Jolie
3. Dennis Quaid
4. Tom Cruise

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about Nigel Lamb but I don’t think the general public knows him well enough to connect what he does and how well he does it with the brand.

The evident choice is of course Tom Cruise, IMO.

As for Brangelina, I would see her much more with Rolex.

Well,

I have to admit that I have never thought much of Travolta anyway so Rolex are welcome to him.

I think that Daniel Craig would make an excellent Breitling ambassador - okay, I know that traditionally 007 is associated with Omega but hey, it's not so long ago that he ditched the Aston (shame on him :) ) for the BMW. Now, I think Aston and Breitling would go really well together (come on Breitling - pull your finger out).

What about Matt Damon - he's pretty good too but I don't know if he sports other brands.

There's a few others whose names elude me for now but I will edit this later if they come to me :D .

edit: Liam Neeson was one :D

Daniel Craig is a Rolex-nut and collector... http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Daniel%20Craig

I've worked in aviation for about 30 years now and have a little spare time, I could be the new Breitling Ambassador.
Hell, I've already got a Navitimer. How much more qualified do I need to be?

Most non-WIS people wouldn't even know that Travolta was Breitling 'ambassador' anyway. Let alone a pilot. Aviation is not exactly at the top of everyones favourite pasttimes so, to Joe Public, I think that the association between him and Breitling is ambiguous. Some might even say Ambitious.

My wife thinks that I'm Breitling 'rock-candy'; cut me in half and you'd see "Breitling" all the way through.....but she doesn't know about Travolta's other non acting pursuits. If he were a currently popular and inspiring personality, then yes the association would be there. For instance, if I asked her who (in horology) sponsors Lewis Hamilton or Roger Federer, she would probably guess correctly.

I think Breitling should have pushed Travolta before he walked.

I don't think working on the luggage carousel at LAX counts?

Ok...joking apart - real Professionals are the real ambassadors, in my view. Not just aviators, but any hard working person who appreciates good watches for what they are, not what they represent.

I was watching a UK documentary some time ago, about the RAF SAR (Sea King). I was immensely happy & proud to see Emergencies, Aerospace, B-1s all gracing the arms of the crews :lingsrock:

Here is the man I'm putting my money on....

Breitling needs to send on offer over to the steely eyed missile man, ex Navy Strike Fighter guy, and all around American bad a$$...now retired, looking for something to do, astronaut Mark Kelly.

Google Mark Kelly and look at the number of images of him sporting his Breitling Emergency or Centennial of Aviation Airwolf. He is a man that know a great watch when he straps it on his wrist and knows it was built for professional pilots to serve a purpose. :lingsrock:

Now retired, I'm sure he would glady take them up on the offer.

Also, I know you all with say "But he wears the Omega X-33 too," there would be a conflict of interest. I submit to you the Photoshoped image of his new book as Exhibit A. Notice how the image was changed to remove the X-33 from his wrist for the book cover.

Let the speculation begin....

I'm actually disappointed to hear this. I think Travolta was a good fit with the Breitling brand. He had the fame, but was also an accomplished pilot. Clearly, something went wrong at some point. I really can't see Travola having much interest in Rolex, so I'm sure it was all about money. He hasn't been making quite as many movies as of late, so maybe he needed the extra cash flow.

I'm sure they will pose him with a GMTII ceramic. After all, it was designed for pilots. Interesting stuff.

He's still the brand's ambassador, removing some visuals doesn't mean he's not... There world Be some news about it I guess.

I thought Daniel Craig was currently an Omega ambassador in his own right (independent of Bond role), anyway?

Interesting about Travolta not being known for his non-acting pursuits, everybody I speak to seem to know him as a guy with a massive great big jet on his drive, and an absolute aviation nut. What they probably don't know, or care about, is which watch is on his wrist. You'd have to be both watch and aviation mad to really notice.
