I keep coming back to this thread and staring, that watch has REALLT grown on me.

I have to say marketing photos are worth (^&&. I really have to see real life and wrist shots before I decide if I like it or not. That watch looks much better on breitling-nutt's wrist and in his first somewhat hazy photo than on any of the catalogue or website pics.

Gotta get me one of those with that exact combination.

Ok so I was going to drive two hours to my local ad, but he was said he had to attend a function where I live and he would just put my Ocean Racer strap on when he got in to town. Ok good new I don't have to drive 2 hours to get a strap put on. Well he shows and things go down hill. I will give you a summary and you can tell me how screwed up this is. First he puts the strap on backwards where the claps is upsided down and he adjust the wrong end. I needed it to be cut 3 marks or whatever its called. So he makes the cuts on one strap and its the 12'oclock side that he cut. Now when I wear the watch the claps is off set and the short end is at 12. He also put some scrathes on my watch. I have not spoken to him yet, I was in a rush to attend a wedding and I didn't realized how jacked up my watch was until I got home. From speaking to another AD he said that when sizing this strap you have to cut both sides not just one.

Opinions?

So - best thing he can do is:

Order a new strap and fit correctly - gratis
Clean and polish your watch - gratis
Make it up to you with a couple of free gifts - pen, cap whatever!

Hope you give him another chance for future business.

Simple really.

I would imagine he would be more than happy to help. Failing that a call to Breitling wherever you are should sort things out.

Doesn't make up for the disappointment tho' :(

I am going to call him on Monday. It sucks because I did not buy the watch or the strap from him and he was putting the strap on as a favor. Oh well I let you know how it goes on Monday.

Thanks

My AD once managed to scratch the underside of the lugs of my old blue Navi World when he took the strap off. I sorted it myself with Cape Cods, but I now make the explicit point whenever any AD handles my watches that I DO NOT under any circumstances want any scratches on it anywhere!

I make sure they know this up front, so there can be no complaints from them if they cock anything up.

The scratches on the lugs really bugged me as I'd manage to keep it scratch-free after wearing it every day for over a year, and then some complete clown who is ALLEGEDLY a watch professional manages to scratch it within 10 seconds of handling it!

Thats the thing that sucks. If I scrathed my watch then I can live with that, but if a watch expert does it then your right that sucks. Live and learn. If anything good came out of this it is I am more Confident in changing my own strap from now on.

Very true.

A little tip for reducing the chance of scratching the lugs when changing a strap is to stick a small piece of sticky-tape over the lug right along the edge before you remove or replace your strap. The tape just gives a little bit more protection from being marked by the spring bar or tool. I'm not saying it's fool proof, but it's certainly saved mine on a couple of occasions!

Nice strap - what sizes is this available in?

20mm perhaps?

It would look great on my Chrono Superocean.

Having recently done some legwork on finding the available sizes - the Ocean Racer comes in 24/20, 22/20 and 20/18. Im not sure whether they all share the same deployant, or there is a thinner version for the smallest size.

I have just ordered one, 22/20 which I should get soon. Not cheap, but I ended up getting a good deal from an AD in generally ripoff Aus :) Going to put in on my black faced B-2. SHould be an interesting combo.
