Hey guys,

I know this topic has come and gone, but what do you feel is the maximum wrist size for a Silver face World?

The only world i was able to try was a solid gold w/ black face. It felt limit for my 6 3/4 wrists.

Now my wife is trying to put in my head that the world is going to be to big. The lugs length of my Planet Ocean XL was a bit big, but i think the World is a bit wider but not as long.

Do you guys think i should go with the normal Navi silver face?

So much doubt, and there is this thing with the BlackBird...

Sorry to be about as much use as a chocolate fire-guard, but only you know if you think it's too big or not.

In my recent G-Shock research I came across a ton of wrist shots of some very large watches on the wrists of some clearly very small guys....... and to a man they were all very happy and confident with the look. Basically if you now think it's too big, then it probably is too big... for you. Ultimately any of these watches are a lot of money, so any tiny doubt at all will take the shine of the purchase, and probably mean that you'll end up selling it on.

Only you can decide, unfortunately.

I think it should be ok. As reference my wife, with thin wrist, wears my Aerospace and it doesn't look big on her. Mind you she also tries on my Airwolf, and it looks good on her!

First, if you have a much smaller watch now, your wife is used to seeing you with a certain... hmm.... size.... so to speak. She'll get use to the bigger watch and so will you.

I agree, only you can determine if it's too big or not. FWIW here are a few shots of my white world before I sold it. My wrist is right at 7 inches and I found it to be slightly too large for me. BUT it is one of the nicest Breitlings that I have ever owned.

I think you mean what is the minimum wrist size. I have the Navitimer World and a small wrist (6 1/2"), but it fits perfectly in my opinion. It's up to the person, in Serge's pic he has a 7" wrist and he feels the watch is too big.

It also has to do with the rest of your body. I'm 6'3 and 270 lbs (7% body fat though! all muscle baby! LOL), so that also helps in making it look "normal".

I'm 5 2 my daily ware watches are a 47 mm Pan 8 day GMT a SA and a Graham over size chrono Diver , its not the size of the persons wrist its the way you carry yourself , I get lots of comments about my watches I never hear there to big for me.

You guys are great help, it's just more confusing.

I wear my CSO, someday i think the size is perfect, some other day i'd like it to be 44mm. Just don't know about 46. We'll see what comes up.

I agree with Driver's standpoint to a certain extent. However, I've seen very small, yet very confident guys who still look like a complete d-bag to me with their giant SA hanging off their wrist. Naturally, they think it looks great, but I can assure you no one else agrees with them.

The Navi World is an interesting one. It's very classy, which is why I think smaller guys can get away with it. My wife actually bought me one and I decided to return it. I had always wanted one, but when I put it on my wrist, it just looked strange. I'm a very confident person, but the watch was clearly too big. I wasn't going to be able to pull it off without being "that guy." Granted, I'm 5'8", 155lbs with a 6 1/2" wrist, so I wasn't surprised that a white face 46mm watch looked out of place. I ended up with the Navi 01 instead, which is a much better fit.

I also have a Chronomat 01. I think this is realistically the largest watch I can physically wear without looking all Jersey Shore. A couple people have made comments about it being a little large, but I feel comfortable with it (to Driver's point). However, if I were wearing an SA, it would be totally over the top, irrespective of how comfortable I felt. Driver has a very valid point, but I think watch vs. body size is a really fine line that's difficult to gauge.

Well in life you get to hear allot of opinions some you agree with some you don't , I'm happy to disagree with bozman52 about .

I am very confident, I may be 5 2 but my dimensions are 52 inch chest 20 inch neck 22 1/2 inch arms 34 inch waist 32 inch thighs and 22 inch calves so watches that are less than a 42m just look girly on me on me !

But as you know we are all different viva the difference !!

Height certainly isn't everything and you're clearly a large guy by every other measurement, excluding height. Again, my point is that even if someone feels comfortable wearing a large watch, that doesn't mean that it looks natural. If I wear an SA around, I look like a d-bag- period. If you wear an SA, it probably doesn't look that out of place. Driver's argument is that if someone feels comfortable wearing a watch, then it's ok. I'm just saying that I think that's too broad of a brush to paint with, and at some point, one crosses the line into looking ridiculous, irrespective of how comfortable one feels.

I totally agree with you that other people may think a person's watch is too big for them, but my point is, does that really matter if the person wearing it is fine with it? For example, if I see someone walking down the road with a red mohican haircut, I may think they look complete prats, and they must know that 99% of people would agree with me, but that doesn't stop them from wearing it. Why? Because they want to make a statement and obviously feel comfortable with it, and don't care what others think. An extreme example, but a similar idea.

I personally wear what I want, and other people's views don't enter the equation. (Fortunately what I wear tends to generally conform to what the vast majority of the population consider normal , and that just happens to be what I like, but the principle still stands). When it comes to watches, I don't ever make any effort to show them off publically, because I only ever buy them for me, and me alone : in fact, the vast majority of the time they are hidden away under my sleeves, so other people's opinions don't matter to me at all. With the exception of a couple of watch-fanatic mates, this is the only place I talk about watches.

But going back to the OP's point, it seems to me that he himself has some doubts about the dimensions of the Navi World for his own wrist, and in that instance if the buyer isn't totally convinced and believes the watch is too big, then it is too big ...... for him.

Heaps of good points here. Two things to contribute.

1. The height and style of the watch are more important to me than diameter. I owned a 46mm vintage Chronomat and it looked much better on my 6 3/4 inch wrists than my Avenger Skyland. It had a lower profile and carried the size better. This might make the Navi work.

2. I have noticed that i conformed to the larger, then smaller trend. When i first got into watches, i tended towards the larger ones. Now i have scaled back and my SOSF is the largest watch I'll own. So what we love in 2011 might turn us off by 2013. If you like it now, buy it. But be prepared for a change of heart!
