What's the serial number? The fakes I've seen use the number range 1342xxx

Yes the serial is within that range. 1342082

That serial no. is enough evidence for me to finally call it a certain fake.

I've just contacted the seller and he was genuinely shocked. I'm going to return it to him in person myself.

The few things wrong..

1- weight
2- serial
3- inside lugs aren't polished
4- lume
5- bezel

Thanks everyone for their input. Special thanks to ade.

To be honest its scary how good it feels. The only sure points for me is the serial number and the weight.

I did originally think the number corners weren't sharp enough but without another abyss in my hand I couldn't be sure. The lume blobs are a little inconsistent how they've been applied.

I'm shocked how good it looks though, especially the glass and ar coating. sure as hell would fool me (in fact it did).

It's the lume dots that are the giveaway. Instead of being flat and square, they are round blobs. This is actually the best one I've seen so far, maybe the white border masks the imperfection. It's certainly more obvious on other dial colours.

The bezel and dial numerals are too rounded, but that is fairly subtle. The date font looks correct, if slightly too thick.

To be honest, I only became aware of a quality Abyss fakes a few months ago when a paranoid guy did numerous postings to authenticate a real one he was buying.

I've been spending time on the "dark side" and learning a lot about fakes - which makes me know more about the genuines. So look at the photos below, they look decent, but are all fakes.
Image

Look at the lume on the fake in this pic, look at the lume in the OP pic, and then look at the lume on a real - the lume is blobby like ade said.

Dang, that didn't take long. Those are every bit as good as the better Steelfish and Evo fakes.

Pretty amazing isn't it - really if they just change the series of the serial numbers and make the lume flatter, it would be so much harder to notice.

The're already showing up on Ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250925592694?ss ... 500wt_1145

The COSC certificate is almost certainly a forgery from a Crosswind Special kit as it folds into 6 rather than 4.

Looking at the feedback, the winning bidder was our friend bentley_boi.

Reported post sale anyway.
