Not at all, I've just spent way too much money on cheaper winders that fail.

Agreed. There is also the issue of gentleness. Before I got my Orbita, I had a Sharper Image winder that was almost violent in its motion. I've now had the Orbita over four years, and it works as well as the day I bought it, and looks just as beautiful. I will say, though, I paid the full price back then of $300, which seemed expensive to me at the time. It blows my mind the same damn winder is now up to $500. That doesn't change my opinion about the quality of the winder or the case, but I can see why one would really question its value at its current price.

Hahaha. That's nothing. I bought a very cheap mutli-watch winder once. Loaded 8 watches into the four cups. I turned it on and one didn't rotate, then made a load whining noise, and took off like a jet turbine!! Two watches totaling more than $10K came flying into the air, which was bad enough but worse because I had another watch in my right hand. I quickly learned to juggle and crisis was averted. I also learned to buy decent winders!!

As for the "crown in or out" part of this thread. Screw the crown in and just don't use gorilla hands while doing it. Take heed of RJRJRJ's comment. Sooner or later you WILL forget to screw in the crown. I learned that lesson as well and now resetting the crown is just a part of winding or setting time. Why risk it?
