I've had my Colt Ocean for 11 and a half years. I shower in it, I swim in it, I played football and badminton in it and I sleep in it. It's been off my wrist for about 3 weeks in that time, which was when it was in for service. :-)

I wear nice watches everyday, but lets face it. Im not going to wear a $500.00 watch let alone a 3 to 4k watch, to do construction work or change my oil or even do my lawn. I have beaters for such jobs. I know my seawolf and superocean will take a beating, But why would anyone want to spend that kind of money to beat the crap out of them?? Thats just me, i hate any scratches on my watches. Even the beaters.

Wow, I feel a little weird in this conversation, and especially after reading some of the other comments.

I only wear my World Timer for special occassions, maybe once or twice a year. Never wear my Chronomat. Too scared.

Later

Jim

Have owned my Bentley GMT for 7 months. Rarely take it off during the week. It comes off on weekends when outside doing yard work or washing the cars, otherwise always on my wrist.

I alternate about once every two or three weeks between mine, and wear them all the time except when:
- showering
- sleeping
- heavy manual work (casio G-shock)
- work-outs (casio G-shock)
- special occasions (vintage omega or rollie 5513 sub)

I have a couple of Breitlings and and Oris which I change up a couple of times a day (I have a home business so not hard to do). I have a desk job and do not wear my watches when working out, sleeping or showering. I am very anal and like my watches looking like new and have the tools etc to keep them that way. I wear beaters for yard work, going to the beach, sports etc but keep them in pretty good shape as well. For me, that is party of the enjoyment of collecting. Also, the watches mentioned above were a reach financially and not easily replaced if I really screw them up by being careless with them on. So, in short I wear them most of the time, but I remove them or substitute them for a beater if there is a significant chance of marking them up.

I also only take mine off when sleeping / showering / using tools, or to put another one on. Although I also have a habit of taking them off when on the computer and just holding / caressing / running them through my fingers....a bit like someone would with rosary beads according to my wife. They are very tactile after all, and a pleasure to handle off the wrist.

I bought both to wear them....I have other watches when I want to change the look up, but they're my favorites and my go-to watches!

I own a commercial/industrial HVAC company, and often find myself on large construction sites. I wear a colt on proII for everyday, and occasionally will jump in to do something with my guys, pretending like I am still one of them. I never take the colt off. for meetings and special occasions I wear a navi, and am not afraid to wear it at all. These things are built to last, and with care will do just that. If you are going to leave them in storage, dont buy one, just put a pile of cash sitting there. you worked hard and spent a few or many thousands of dollars on the timepiece, enjoy it! wearing it once per year does not constitute enjoyment in my world.

Sleep - None
Heavy labor - Casio Pathfinder
Gym - Casio Pathfinder
Yard work or similar work - Oris TT1

Any other time, I have on either my Steelfish, or my new SuperOcean 42mm. I have many other lesser watches, but I don't seem to wear them anymore.

I'll generally wear any of my watches all day. Might change up if I'm out for the evening or something, and will remove them if the chainsaw or similar is coming out, but otherwise I'll never baby them.

Yup, same here. I have my G-Shock for the really physical tasks when i KNOW the watch will get knocked. Swirls & light scratches here & there on my expensive watches dont bother me too much.
