...... and sadly it's as utterly horrible in real life as it is in pictures. :? The bezel and bezel font are the worst things about it, but a really strange thing I hadn't noticed in any pictures is how the sides of the case are shaped to match the "lumpy" profile of the bezel. It's a very weird looking thing. And the fact it's quartz is the crowning turd in the waterpipe. It looks very Invicta-like to be honest. Not good.

In contrast I also saw the new Omegas with the in-house chronograph movement - i.e. the new Seamaster chronos and the new Speedmaster - and they are all absolutely superb. There's a serious contrast between what Omega is doing and what Breitling is doing at the moment....... and IMO Omega is winning that battle without even breaking into a sweat.

Oh, and I also found an AD who are now stocking Seiko Ananta Spring Drive models. I'd never actually seen one in the flesh before, but I was very impressed. Very, very nice level of finishing on the case, and the movement is really something to behold. Still just not sure I'd pay 3,500 GBP for one.

I agree D8. Looks like a Tag Aquaracer and Longines Hydroconquest evil offspring! .....not a fan.

Did the bezel on the new ceramic Omega Planet Ocean look grey in the flesh as it does in photos? I really like that piece but the bezel appears grey in every photo which is something I really dislike.

Yes they do look more grey as opposed to a deep black, certainly under the lights of the AD showroom. Personally I like it, but I can understand how some might not.

If Breitling wants to avoid doing something idiotic again, they really need to run it by the experts here before they get in too deep. It seems like they create these things without the input of the most important people.... their consumers. What are they thinking?

That's for sure. Breitling needs a serious reality check.

I accepted a long time ago that Breitling's current direction didn't align with the direction that I want to take my collection in, but I don't see how this new Colt fits into even Breitling's current design ethos - it's just odd and, as noted, dated.

If by "dated" you mean it's the crowning turd in the waterpipe, I agree.

Instruments for professionals, or obstructions for plumbers... that is the question.

I saw the Colt on Fri and was while it was not hideous, it certainly did stick out like a sore thumb in the Breitling counter. I didnt even bother asking the sales rep to pull it out of the case

I believe you. I'm not sure that's any consolation, though.

So we are agreed; the new Colt is Pony!!

To explain: "Pony" is Cockney rhyming slang... pony and trap,, crap!)
