Are there any good ocean racer strap knockoffs out there that are worth looking into?

Also... What is the size of the spring that holds the strap into the deployment clasp? I almost lost my CE on my honeymoon when it randomly fell off my wrist, and I noticed that the spring broke  WTF?

It's 20mm. Did it break or just come out? It's a little tricky getting the spring bar seated correctly. I commented about a year ago I almost lost my 1/2 hour old SOHC LE for the same reason, but my arm was hanging out my truck window - at 70mph!!! I saw the sun hit the end of the loose spring bar and as I brought my hand in the watch fell in my lap. At 70mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scared the crap out of me. The guy in the store didn't seat the spring properly. You have to be sure and give it a very firm tug. I imagine you could wear an impropely seated one for quite a while before disaster.

Not sure what you mean by knockoffs

I'm reading the words, but I can't understand them. That sounds suspiciously like asking if we can recommend any fake straps! :huh

My answer would be no there most definitely aren't any knockoff anythings that I'd personally think are worth looking into.

You should replace the word 'knockoff' with 'after market'. Then you may find some suggestions. As or an 'aftermarket' strap that looks similar to yours....NO I've never seen one. Did the spring bar fail or did the rubber tear...easiest way to tell, was the spring bar still in the rubber when the strap came off? If so, then the spring bar wasn't set properly and you should just get a new 20mm spring bar. If the spring bar was still in the deploy, then your rubber broke....and no one likes when their rubber breaks. 8)

Sharkman, no it has been installed correctly. I gave it the tug test and everything. It has been ok for an entire year i'd say. The part of the spring that enters the hole, snapped to the side and bent. It bent to the point where all it did was wiggle back and forth. VERY STRANGE! I baby the hell out of this thing, but on a positive note.... at least I was in a pool  Also it was the last day of my honeymoon, so I enjoyed it for a good portion of the trip! :D
