I could be wrong, but they still offer tours of the White House to the public. I interned at the Department of Commerce a couple of summers ago and my buddy interned at the East Wing at the same time and got me in for a tour. Maybe Fear got in for something else...

DC is a great town, been there many times.

Considering what I remember about crime rates in Washington (was there about 20 years ago), I would wear a swatch....

they used to do tours just walk up, like they do at the capital building but that changed it after 9/11. now you have to have a congressman request it for you. they need 6 month notice and won't tell you till 10 days before the requested date. anyone can go, but its kind of a pain in the a$$. i know some people but thats how you do it.

I imagine the gold Bentley light up the metal detectors. So did you see the green room and the China room and all those other rooms? Then in the Capitol rotunda where you can stand in one spot and whisper to someone on another spot across the rotunda? They still let you watch Congress in session? That kind of visit. Frankly I was a bit disappointed.

I'm not sure where in DC you are referring to, but I am down there every week and I can assure you the city is nothing like that. There are plenty of people with money there, nice cars, expensive watches, etc.

Of course there are bad places within DC, but that is true of any large city within the U.S.

yeah, green room blue, yellow east, state dining, all of em. my cousin is a senator and he got me gallery passes. we sat in the front row and watched a debate and vote, it was pretty cool. i did some work for a rep in florida who got me passes for the house, but they were off when we were there. we did the tour and some behind the scenes stuff too. its was cool.

white house is small, my wife could believe how small it was, but it really is small rooms too..

we aren't allowed to take pictures, so none to post.
