It's a clever idea, but I think I'd like it better if the people actually had the watches strapped to their faces. These are pretty clearly Photoshopped in. If you go to the Technomarine website, you can see identical face pictures featuring different watches.

It's retarded.

Notice, you can't see the end of the strap - could be that they taped it to the face. Regardless, looks stupid.

Theoretically, and if they were to use real watches, I would expect that's how they would do it. But they look pretty fake to me. The watches are rather cartoonish digital renderings, and the fact that on their website they use the same base face picture for different watches shows they are just slapped on digitally.

Agreed. I can respect the advertising creativity that gets you to look twice, but think the pictures would look a whole lot better if the watches weren't in them.

When I saw the Technomarine ‘watch-as-an-eye-patch’ ad it reminded me of a past TV series story line about a race of sinister cybernetic life-forms called “Borg” (http://www.startrek.com/database_article/borg) I think the watch ads might be an unintended abstract extension of that concept which is fun and a little silly too since the Borg wouldn’t need straps or bracelets to keep the watch in place on their face.
We’ve come to expect watch ads to be organized around an interesting person like a movie star wearing the latest watch creation while looking cool doing what ever it is they do. Alternately, there are the bold ads that feature a watch and text floating on an otherwise blank page and of course, combinations of people wearing watches and watches floating next to them on the page. And it’s all instantly rather pedestrian now thanks to Technomarine.
