you might remember you did not post those, but had another member do this for you ?
somebody deleted the images from pbucket, the img links are still in the posts, so these were not edited.

Hello, my photos of the watch and supporting documents from Horological Services have been removed from this discussion. I am not too surprised. Disappointed that it took some quotes to ruffle the feathers here on the site.

I hope that you are not suggesting that the moderation team has edited those posts. That is categorically not true and I can post screenshots of the moderator logs to prove it.

I have no idea what you are talking about. All I know is that the pictures of my watch and the Horological Services photos are gone now and I did not remove them. They have been replaced with 'the image has been deleted and is no longer available'. Maybe you can tell me what happened to them? Why would I have deleted them - they were the best part of these debates. I of course am not suggesting anything, the pictures were there and now they are not.

I am remembering, I did not post them in the first place since I do not know how to do it here on the site - I had forgotton. If you want the pictures back, as I do, please give me a lesson on how to do it and I will post them myself. I am not acusing anyone of anything - I had hoped we were done with this stuff?

Only one person who keeps reactivating the thread.

Still, I would like to re-ad my photos, or can I not do that now?

Ask Paul (vintage)

You sent them to him and he hosted them on his Photobucket account. He's now taken them off of Photobucket, probably because he want's to use his account for his own pictures. No one has edited a single post here as Fred just pointed out to you.

If you remember, the thread discussions were over on August 30, and sonce then I quoted some people without their permission, and they reopened the discussion.

I assume they were posted on an external server and linked to from here rather than they were posted on the breitlingsource website ?
when you then delete them from the place where they were originally posted they are no longer visible here either

so someone deleted the original pics from http://www.myeasypics.com/is.php?i=9090 ... avi001.JPG , maybe Vintage deleted the pics ? or perhaps just the myeasypics.com server is down

After a quick read and a smile I cant get over the fact that the article seems to be full of mistakes, misinformation and sometimes misinforming the less informed reader

Here's a few things that stuck me as 'odd' but I am sure I will be corrected by others if I state something incorrect

Quote:
Little did we know that in the years 1952-1954, this precision was found to be fallible; their production records were incomplete and even lost in some cases. This means that when the Breitling Geneves were shipped from Breitling, Switzerland in 1953, it was not known how many were made, transported or sold.

Breitling most likely knew exactly how many were shipped during this period. But as the company was liquidated in the late 70ies those records were not kept

Quote:
Furthermore, with the company’s attention completely focused on releasing their classic Navitimer, mistakes in the Geneve B (a second generation of the original Geneve sold to the cover costs of the Navitimer’s production) were overlooked.

I doubt the company knew how much the Navitimer would be their flagship in the '52-'54 period. There's even doubts that the Navitimer existed prior to '54.
Also I dont understand the "Geneve B 2nd generation" , I dont know what this means ?

Quote:
At a time when digital (battery-powered) watches were taking over, this Breitling Geneve B (Reference number 765 AVI) is one of a miniscule number of watches that were manufactured non-digital.

Digital Quartz battery powered watches did not hit the street in any commercially viable number until the 70ies so all (99.9%) watches made in the 40ies, 50ies and most of the 60ies were 100% mechanical
The writer probably confused the earlier mentioned digital AVI , which has a numbered digital 15 minute counter (like calendar) vs. an analog 15 minute hand
And the 'build order' for Quartz watches wasnt even given until 1959 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watch#Electronic_movements) So I doubt electronic watches were given much thought at all during the period this watch was supposedly made

Quote :
First error: 15 minute gearset did not work properly, later rectified with a 30 minute gearset in the Navitimer.

reference and documentation please ?
15 minute vs. 30 minute is just a matter of number of teeth on a gear , like 12hrs vs. 24 hrs (Navi vs. Cosmo)
I have had many 765's with 15 minute counters working flawless

Quote:
and its Fully Jeweled Incabloc Shock Protection comprised of 17 rubies.

Ahh, another point of discussion 'when did the incablock in this form arrive in the V178 movement Breitling uses' , I dont know

But again.. good luck selling the watch

here's a pic of the 'digital' 765 that I referred to earlier
taken from an earlier post in the thread

Image

this watch is fully mechanical with the same V178 movement and with a 15 minute gear set and a 'digital' minute counter
