Well I popped into my AD today and got talking to my friendly sales person who in turn put me on to the owner. I mentioned that I was thinking about getting a Sub C. later in the year or at least by Summer of next year.
As it happened he may have sale for my 16610LV and say he would get back to me on a deal he had for me a 116610LN. I was torn between the Sub C. and the LV when I picked up my watch early this year.

So as the poll title say.... what you think?.

I think I am going for the Sub C.

This, the Sub C is an awesome piece and blows the old 16610 out of the water IMO.

I agree, although I can't help but think we'd see a considerably different perspective if this question were put forth on a Rolex forum.

I posted earlier as to whether I should get the sub C or the new explorer 2. I think I am coming down on the side of the sub C so I guess it was obvious which way I voted......LV not!

Did you consider the 116610LV? All the benefits of the ceramic plus the mean green dial.

Yes I did but its not for me. I think I would tire of all that colour too easily. Looks like here comes the Sub C. :cheer:

ok being serious now. the sub lv is a great watch. and there is alot of value from a collector standpoint. that said the subc is definitely an all around better made watch. the lugs being made thicker just give it that much more wrist presence. i am almost positive you will love it.

Yes I think I will. Its that bracelet, the clasp more so, that does it for me.

Agreed. If the 16610 had the newer bracelet, it might be a closer call.

Yes the head is quite nice and finished perfect. I know I have been edging towards the Sub C. but what going for my LV is the fact it was one of the very last "new" ones sold, around here any way. Of the two AD I frequent any time I talk to them they tell me the they have lots of inquiry calls about the old LV but never have any in stock and could sell quite a few if they had them. Now if you can believe they who knows.

The LV is a sweet watch and I love the fact that you just can not walk in off the street and walk out with one on your wrist, you can with the Sub C.

I just have to wait and see what offer is on the table so to speak.

I honestly wouldn't let the "discontinued" status of the LV sway your decision. I personally hankered after an LV for years before my AD finally managed to get hold of one - this was just before their popularity started to wane and Rolex dumped a load of them onto the market a number of years ago  - but I was still only too pleased to sell it a few months later. I agree the head is beautifully made, but as a package it's an anachronism nowadays with that bracelet and clasp.

And remember, ALL watches are eventually discontinued and there will come a point when you can't just walk in off the street and buy a Sub C. Imagine how much better you'll feel when that eventually happens and you OWN a Sub C, compared to still having your LV but also no longer being able to buy a Sub C new.
