Hey guys my wife and I happened along our Breitling AD when we were walking downtown yesterday (how did that happen) and a steel Callisto with the pilot bracelet caught her eye. I was surprised it was even in the case with that model being retired in 2004 but there it was and she liked it.

What would you say a fair price for this watch is today? It's got the simple blue dial, no diamonds on the bezel, the pilot bracelet and a new warranty card. The watch has never been sold and is sitting with my Breitling AD. They're claiming some collector value but I'm not buying that just yet. Retail on it was $2850 in 2004.

What do you guys think is fair?

- Peter

The watch needs a service for a start so get that done under warranty if you buy it.

There's no collector value in the watch and as a 'new' watch you should be looking for the same discount as any other model and then a bit more for the fact that they haven't been able to sell it in 7 years. Don't bother negotiating for the service in the purchase price as the warranty covers you.

That's great advice! I'll be sure and have them send it right back to Breitling for service if we come together on it.

She shot me a price of $2100 but in my mind that's just the regular discounted price that I would have seen when it was a current model. I'll work on it a bit more an if they're motivated to FINALLY sell this watch after so many years I'll probably pick it up. If not I'm betting my wife will like a Galactic 32 or a Colt 33.

After seeing her at the AD trying on watches and getting excited about them for the first time, I have no choice but to get her one.

Probably best thing I ever did! Good luck with the negotiation.

i would say 2k, and THEY send it back fr service before you take it home. i bought a watch from beritling that had been in their warehouse or a store for 3 years and they serviced it before sending it to me, worth the extra 2 week wait for sure

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll let you know how it turns out.

...to add to the drama, she went to Breitling's site and now wants to look at the new Colt 33, white dial and bracelet. (I know) Believe it or not one of her first comments was how much she liked "the outer part of this one" when she was looking at the bezel. Huh?!?

Regardless of which one she chooses or how much I don't like the new Colt bezel, I'm happy that she may be catching the bug. :D
