I really never use that function, but for some reason I keep purchasing watches with them. :?

I was considering picking up a steelfish for this reason, but lately, I find myself searching for another bentley motors to replace the one I sold several years ago. What is wrong with me????

Anyone else out there who owns chrono's but doesn't use them?

I doubt that a lot of chrono owners use them much. I use the functions occasionally, but I could satisfy most of my puposes with an adjustable bezel on a three-hand watch. To me, the reason is the same reason why we don't all have quartzes anyway--a certain fascination with machines.

The only time I used my BlackBird's chrono was when I was barbequing. I like the look and the function, but have no practical reason to use it.

I got rid of my BlackBird for an uncluttered Sea Dweller. I really liked my BlackBird, but had outgrown it and would prefer a GMT over a chrono nowadays.

I have three and rarely have any use for the chrono's - who knows why we do this, I guess that's why it's called an obsession

I never use my chrono on my SA.

If there was a choice of an SA with and without chrono I would go for the non-chrono as I do prefer a simple dial with a big sweeping hand like the steelfish, only there isn't a choice.

I think the chrono pushers look cool though.

Use mine all the time for BBQ, time the kids at swim practice, time between my wife saying "I'm ready" and her actually stepping in the running car!
Cheers

I have the same general feeling about watches with tachymetres, especially those with the scale emblazoned on the bezel, where they're a defining feature of the watch. The Speedmaster is a perfect example of a cool watch that is actually functionally stunted per my own needs: I have much greater use for a date window and a diver's bezel than I do for a chronograph and a tachymetre.

great question. i have 4 watches and 3 of them are chronos. i rarely use the chrono, and i mean rarely. i have take the advice of other members to let it run once in a while just to keep things moving. aside from that i really have no use for the chrono. as of late i find myself more attracted to the basic divers. simple dial seconds, minutes, hours and a date. i do admit though a chrono looks pretty bad ass.

as for buying a watch that you use to have i think we have all done it. a while back i sold my b4b gt to a buddy and found myself replacing that with a GT ice. stupid right?? but for some reason it just called my name and i had to have it.

One lesson learnt about chronographs and now passing on.

If your lady has one thing that she talks about every time she has had a glass of......do not press the top button.....

It hurts.

I use the chronograph all the time - I give quite a few speeches at work, and often time myself to make sure I don't run over.

I have both chronos and non. 4 chronos and 5 non. I actually prefer the non chrono. One of my chronos is a Blackbird. It is often my favorite watch. What I don't like is the screw down pushers because it requires more thought to go into timing something on the fly. I have never found the need for a tachymetre. I think the slide rule on my Air Wolf is more useful. That is if I actually care what my ground speed is AND the GPS is not working!!

To the OP, you should reconsider the SOS. Here is mine at 15,000'.

Boy, you said it. They take what is already a feature a lot of owners don't use with much regularity, and make it even more likely to go unused. With both my Evo and CSO, there were a number of times I decided that what I wanted to time wasn't worth the effort of getting the damn pushers ready to use. They are one of my major watch peeves.
