I had a Ball Aviator with a red date on a black wheel, and it was impossible to read. I would defiitely see it in person before you decide.

If I really REALLY had to choose one of those two, I'd go with the Red Strike as you get a bracelet with it and I'm just not a fan of surface-coated watches.

(BUT, my favourite Blackbird by a million miles is the original brushed steel / black dial / white markings version. That version is impossible to beat IMO).

:yeahthat Given the options, I went with the Red Strike, but I'd take the standard black-dial/brushed Blackbird any day over any other version of the watch.

Red Strike for me. I handled a Blacksteel BB a while back and it just seemed too dark overall. A black leather strap with red stitching would give a less blingy look on the Red Strike.

I have yet to see either in the wild however out of the two I think I prefer the bs. Big date that you cannot read what is the point in that.

I willstick with my original big date BB with that little extra thanks.

Definitely red strike. I don't think the Blackbird works well in Blacksteel.

My vote goes to the Blacksteel model. That version has always been my favorite as it has that polished finishing on the case. It also has just the right amount of red in the dial, where the RS is all in your face red.

On one hand these two watches are obviously the same watch with different highlights, but you also have to consider that the Red Strike is all polished and on a polished bracelet, while the Blacksteel is a much stealthier watch with the rubber strap.

However....Depending on your lifestyle I would make the choice in that manner.

Looking for a tough watch???? get the Blacksteel.

Looking for a flashy chrono on bracelet????....go for the Red Strike

PS...there is one of the BS models in the sales forum now that has some great pics of the model

I voted for the BS because I currently own the brushed / black version. I do not really prefer either choice, and the red date is on the RS does not apeal to me. If I had to chose, I would get the BS.
