Any thoughts on the Nixon 51-30 Tide http://www.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the-51-30-A057.html? Am looking for a non-digital tide watch. Love the Corum but can't justify the price for my needs. THis seems to be a great option; wondering if anyone has experience with it.

Would get either Matte Blac/Surplus: Image or Gunmetal Black Image

Thanks

I'm a watch snob so the name kills it for me I'm afraid. Swiss quartz movements and nothing inherently wrong, Nixon just has a bit of a fashion watch stigma.

I think I already answered that.

I understand Roff - I wouldn't be interested in a Nixon if I didn't want a tide watch but like the way this one looks. Don't want digital and like the Swiss quartz movement. Would prefer a mechanical but this will do for weekends at the beach I guess.

Any other recommendations then on a tide watch. Looked at some o the Kriegers but I think they look funny. Not a fan. Corums seem fairly expensive unless I'm missing something.

Haven't got a clue what a "tide watch" is, never heard of Nixon, and don't particularly like the design but it's got a countdown bezel so that's a plus point!

Looking for something to indicate high and low tides while I'm at the shore. Used to have a tide clock but would prefer to have one on my wrist. Typically use an app on my iPhone but would prefer not to have to carry it with me.

How does it know high and low tides? The tide varies depending on where you are. I thought that was a power reserve?

You set it based on your specific tide in your area. Since its quartz, wouldn't need a power reserve.

Well, not a big fan of Nixon's either, and this looks almost like a Uboat homage, so it's not my first choice (although I do like some of the not a fan of a look alike) And at a list of $450, not exactly cheap. If it was $50, wouldn't think twice about it. But doesn't seem to be much else out there. Would just be nice to have that feature. I'm assuming the digital versions are really accurate but was wondering if anyone has experience with this watch since it wouldn't make sense to spend $350 or so if it's not terribly accurate. I had a couple tide clocks that weren't so they were more harm than good. If I really liked the way the Corun looked, would be an easy choice but can't see spending $4k on a watch I don't love.

save your money czar. it sounds like you would be buying this watch as a filler. if you dont love it its not worth the money. my suggestion is save up till something comes along that you really love. i have no idea how many watches you have but i can say this....dont rush into anything. im sure there are other members on here (like myself) who bought pieces that they didnt ultimately love and wish they saved the funds for something they did.
