I have a brand new Superocean Heritage Chrono - It came with the amazing mesh strap and I purchased a black leather to go with it. I fancy buying the Ocean Racer and the Diver pro II - I am however, put of by the seriously expensive price of breitling strap. Is it acceptable to wear non original watch straps or perhaps purchase a replica watch and harvest the strap. Can anyone recommend any websites????

There are plenty of sources for aftermarket straps at all price points. Take a look at the accessory section - viewforum.php?f=29

Certainly no need to buy a fake watch just for the strap.

Put on whatever strap you like and is most comfortable to you. I don't worry about needing an OEM strap with my watches. I have several aftermarket straps I use with my Breitlings and Omegas. Look thru Timezone website, they are always advertising strap manufacturers.

As these guys said, just look at the aftermarket options. Many are just as nice as Breitling straps. Fake straps are crap and the 'high-end' fake straps don't cost much less then a good condition used OEM Breitling strap. They come across the sales forums all the time, just be on the lookout!

This is more about aftermarket straps, but may be useful:

While I only tend to like OEM straps on Breitlings for some reason, I don't have a problem with aftermarket straps at all. The quality of aftermarket straps varies from total crap to as-good-as-OEM at the very top end, but then so does the price.

That said, I'd NEVER buy a fake "Breitling" strap - i.e. one with Breitling wording on it. A fake Breitling strap is as bad as a fake Breitling watch IMO : just no point at all.

(And there's also NEVER an excuse to buy a fake watch IMO).

driver i have to agree with you on this one. for some strange reason i will only put breitling straps on a breitling watch. i have seen some cool after market straps but for some reason my preference is OEM straps for breitling.

No.I will never feel comfortable or have the same satisfaction knowing that what I'm wearing is fake even if its just the strap. As what the other members here suggested, I'd rather buy a non Breitling strap if the price concerns you.

These Fake or Replica straps may look like the Original but they are made of very cheap low quality materials plus it has zero resale value and illegal if you ever decide to sell your watch in the future. It is a waste of money.

And you definitely don't want a fake deployant. Someone posted a thread on here recently about one they bought, which they thought was real, and it broke in just a few days.

The Breitling straps and bracelets are actually reasonable IMO, especially of you can get a deal on one through an AD.
