My girlfriend and I have had a running "disagreement" for some time now and I was hoping this forum could back me up. She believes that being a tall girl is a bad thing, that men find it unattractive. For example, she believes (and this is a direct quote here) "When guys at the bar say, 'Wow, you're really tall!' it's like saying 'Wow, you're really fat!'" I try to tell her that men, in fact, prefer tall women, and they're actually trying to compliment her. Only one of my friends has gone and said he prefers them short, but at least three of my friends have said they prefer tall women. But I wanted to make this a little more scientific, so, which side are you on? And be honest here, if the results back her up, I just won't show them to her

Obviously this is solely personal preference, but anything over 5' 7" (166 cm. for our metric speaking friends) is just too tall for my taste. I'm six feet tall exactly, by the way. I much prefer the small, athletic build of a gymnast, rather than the longer lean look of a say, a volleyball player. Sorry, tall girls just don't do it for me.

However, I disagree with her analogy to being fat. Being tall is an accidental characteristic, no different from ethnicity, the color of your skin, or the size of your nose. I don't think anyone should be judged on accidental characteristics. An overweight person has a chance to become thinner (ignoring any medical conditions), but a tall person has no option to get shorter.

All that having been said, I have friends, some shorter than me, who just love tall girls, so I'm curious to see the results. If I had to guess, I would say I am in the minority in preferring short women.

As I'm 6'4 - I prefer tall women. 5'7ish or over. Shorter women (even though just as attractive) would be slightly less appealing to me purely because of the height factor. I'm a tall guy and prefer tall women. I'm sure it prob works the opisate for shorter guys. But ya, to answer your question - Tall Chicks Rock!! :)

As others have said this is purely my personal preference, and there is certainly no such thing as a "right or wrong" height, but I personally much prefer shorter women.

I'm 6'2" and in the past I've been out with a girl of 5'1" and another of 5'2", and although my current girlfriend is 5'6" she is very slim and is still considerably shorter than me. The tallest lady I've ever been out with was 5'10" but I couldn't get away from the feeling that walking along with my arm round her felt like I had my arm round a mate!

Maybe our female membership can put their preferences in terms of men's height forward too!

I am 6'2", my wife is 5'7". If she is reading this then of course she is the only woman that I have ever dated. For the rest of you.....

I dated a lady who was 5'1" (Driver8 - I was in the UK at the time so it may have been the same one as you  ), but I have also dated a woman who was almost my own height and had the confidence to walk around in heels.

To me, it's not really one of the things that was a determining factor - of course we are largely shallow men on here so attraction is purely physical, but height never really factored in to it for me one way or another.

From the females' point of view there's a lot to be said in favour of tall women.

If you need to stand on a box to get to the same height as your G/F, Wife etc. they have the added advantage of being able to kick the box away from under you at the appropriate moment!

Quite an effective method of birth control!!

Notice how "wife" has a capital W - I'm married of course and Mrs B B is: 5' 3 1/2" so don't tell her I voted for tall!

well I'm 6' 3" and Mrs DD is 5'1"..........I have been out with tall girls in the past but for my money, they are all the same length lying down!

Its not size but what you do with them that matters!

ok, that should ensure I'll not be getting much for months!

I'm 6'3'' (192 cm) and my wife is 5' 10'' (155cm). I like 'em a bit taller but not as tall as me.

tall = long legs! :o

Same here, I'm 6'2" and the last five girls I've gone out with were 5'10" to 5'11". Just short enough so that I'm taller then them while they're wearing 3" heels.

There was one girl in my law class who was slightly taller than me, and she'd wear high heels. When I started to ask her if she required her man to be taller than her. Before I even finished the question she cut me off with "5 feet 10 inches, something like that" and a head shake.

My wife had done psychology as a side degree during her university days. And upon reading this particular forum i pointed this out to her and from what i understand from her explanations it goes something like this:-

Tall women to men reflect a authority or controlling personality a personality or a person that they subconsciously will not be able to look after/ protect.

This is the case if the women is taller then the men. it does not matter how tall the man is he will prefer women who are smaller then him (in general). A taller women it seems can infringe on a man's subconscious ego.

So in general (bear in mind this is general and not meant to insult any one's specific taste) and there are studies to back this men DO prefer shorter women.

Hope this is helpful?

Regards

M

Tall is just a matter of definition. My "wife" (we are not married, but live together for 14years and have a small son) is about the same size, as I am, (little bit less than 6 feet) which is not considerd large for a male, but quite large for a female. She has no problem with the size except with the size of her shoes. She is just out of the normal range, where you can finde nice female shoes. And she is a shoefetishist.
Personally I don't like really small ladies. There is the old dirty saying, that if they also have a flat head, You can put a pint of bear on top of it, while having a ....
But as usual, its only a personal preference. Like the size of a watch.

I'm 5'9" and I prefer a woman be no taller than me, even in average heels so I generally think 5'6" is the upper bound. I've gone taller, and was even with a girl who was 5'9" for nine years, but my current is 5'6" so I think I'll make that the new standard. ;)
