Yeah, it could get messy, but you just have to clean the watch well. Plenty of threads on that, use the search function.

Hopefully if anything like this ever happens to you or one of your loved ones, you won't have the misfortune of coming across anyone this immature.

What's with your comments? You have issues.

Stay classy...

Mods, may be a good idea to edit some in this thread? He must be drunk-posting.

Really horrible to read this sad news. In the photos attached to AP News app, so many of the spectators were pushing strollers too! :(

Dhalem,

Disgusting and tasteless comments in my opinion, whether meant as a "joke" or otherwise. Not funny, not entertaining - just downright disrespectful.

As just another member of this forum, and not as a moderator, I think you should retract your comments and publically apologise for making them.

And to those members who have been PM'ing about banning, all I can say is that holding a personal view - no matter how insensitive or immature - is everyone's prerogative. However, the forum also has a rule about being respectful to others and in this case the comments in question, while not directed at another member, clearly offend most "right-thinking" individual's sensitivities. So again, I suggest dhalem might like to take the opportunity to publically make amends.

I too have been receiving a lot of PMs as well as seeing reports on this topic, it won't surprise anyone that the only variances in them is that some people want to see Dan banned completely while others want his posts removed.

From a personal standpoint I find Dan's position wholly indefensible and knowing something of his personality from his contributions here I can just imagine how he would have reacted had those posts been made by somebody else. I find them sickening beyond belief. I hope that at some point in the future Dan comes to realise just how wrong they are and the impact that they might have on people who are close to this tragedy.

However, we don't ban people for having objectionable opinions, and as anyone who has been here for any length of time knows we are extremely tolerant of views that run contrary to our own. Personally I think that the reaction of those who have offered opinions on Dan's comments here says far more about this community than does his misguided posts. This thread will slide down the pages just like every other but people will not soon forget the posts of one member and will have formed or changed opinions about the individual as a result - that's inevitable if not fair.

I echo Driver8's call for dhalem to retract his comments and apologise.

One of the most disappointing posts that I have ever made.

As the administrator of this board, I must say that I agree with everyone here regarding dhalem's posts. I don't need to reiterate what everyone else has stated already, but I will join my moderation team in the request that you retract your comments and apologize.

An eye witness at the race made the following statement to the associated press.

"I saw body parts and gore like you wouldn't believe it. I'm talking an arm, a leg," Higgins said "The alive people were missing body parts. I am not kidding you. It was gore. Unbelievable gore."

Joking about people who had their body parts blown off is not funny.

:yeahthat Hopefully this thread can now end and work it's way off the main page.

My thoughts and prayers are with the suffering, including the families and friends impacted.

Some people find humour a way to deal with tragedy. I think the situation is sad, but I also think it's a bit unfair to dump all over this fellow.
