If you are looking at a 42mm on strap in part because the Fish seems a little big and heavy, then that's understandable.

Even if he is, my recommendation would be to tack down a 42mm SF, rather than go with the Abyss. The Steelfish has it in spades over any new SO...IMO.

There is no way I would get rid my fish for an abyss.

Looks like the answer is pretty evident.

I think that would largely depend on how a 44 fits the OP, versus a 42. I don't understand this bias that is automatically in favor of larger watches. Sometimes they look right, but not always. In Fear's case, I get it: he has massive wrists. But we don't know about the OP. Plus, specifically in the case of the current SOs, the 44 has that ridiculous Arabic numeral layout on the dial, which kills it for me regardless of how it fits. At least the 42's dial layout makes more sense.

It's Steelfish love, not big watch love. Many, like me, who have the Steelfish have developed an almost cultish admiration for it. Hey, it's on the verge, or right at, too big for my wrist, especially on the bracelet. But I like it so much I just don't care.

And its' heavy and rugged enough to help you out in a scrape. :) Time to swap out the DPII for the bracelet. Looks like a Fish Saturday. Hope no one gets in my way - "You talkin' to me? You want some of this upside your head?!? Don't make me do it."

I hate to get in the way of a perfectly good Travis Bickle impression, but I was responding to a post that was advocating a SO44 over a SO42.

More along the lines of America and Captain & Tenille, I'd say.

As for my misread (or failure to read), "Nevermind." ~ Emily Litella

Oh yeah, J/S, I have the Fish on now - don't mess with me man.

I'd recommend a Steelfish 44 over an Abyss 42 any day of the week including Sundays, because in my opinion the Fish kicks the Abyss's ass, irrespective of fit. But I wouldn't advocate a SF44 or SF42 either way. That really comes down to the OP's individual preferences and needs. Likewise, I don't understand the rationale behind saying, "Get the big SO instead of the small one," without knowing what it is the OP wants or needs.

Captain and Tennille? More like Tina and Ike, I'd say.

There is a significant portion of the watch consumers for whom large size is a must regardless of wrist size or body habitus. While I am not among them, that's important to quite a few and that's cool.

Hey, I hooked up a buddy with his first real watch - a white dial SA. Then a new black dial Fish came his way at considerable savings. Couple months later he asked me to sell the Fish for him - TOO SMALL. I wanted to pop my cork, but what the heck, for some a large size case is as important a criteria as quartz versus mechanical is for others.

"Fish love" Don't make me spell it out - I hate that song with a passion reserved for very few things and even fewer people.

Oh, was that a "Muskrat Love" reference? Now that's what I call oblique.

Totally agree with you Tom.

The Steelfish is a not tradable kinda of watch. If you have one, you keep it.

If you trade it, you'll regret it, especially at the current Breitling era.
